Just wanted to say how happy I am with the ssd's on the redone. I installed my side module yesterday and did a greenscreen shoot today on ssd.
I only bought 2 x 64's to start with but I could turn these around so fast via esata that I never ran out of space and I was shooting a baby so we were rolling continuously.
I don't have to worry about drive failure or weird playback issues and when it comes to handheld or car or music work these are going to kick ass.
This is such a fantastic upgrade for the redone.
If you haven't done it already, get the side module and a couple of ssd's.
Also, I was playing back 4k files in realtime (although with lower rez) on a new top of the line imac with 12gig of ram in adobe cs5.5. and doing comps on set. Just amazing.

+1 we dreaded every time the drives went out, problem after problem. Love the ssd's.

+1 me too. and I have an extra 128 GB SSD on route to me.
The SSD solution to the RED is really very cool, makes the camera so much more portable and faster to set up, and for car and helicopter shots it is perfect.
I would if I could have one of the 256's but 2x64 plus the 128 will be ok for me at the moment.
The SSD's make the Red One MX a new camera again.
Great addition, every one should have it.

been saying this for 6 months...glad the echos are finally coming back around..

SSD is a beautiful thing, finally I attach 5 SSD modules on my 5 Red M-X. 5 256GB SSD are awesome, I don't need to worry about the footage anymore. Nice dreams very night :)
