Hey everyone,
So I know that this sounds ass backwards, and I do feel like a bit of an idiot asking this, but here it goes... Is it possible to cut a project with raw files and then conform proxy clips to those raw files for coloring? Instead of the normal workflow of cutting proxies and then conforming to raw files.
I know... bear with me.
I'm cutting a project in PP, with native dragon raw files, where half of the piece is supposed to look like it was shot in a public access tv studio and the other half is supposed to look cinematic. Now that I'm looking at my rough cut, I realized that instead of grading the TV stuff to look bad, I could just use a high compressed proxy (closer to what you would actually be getting out of a tv studio) and get exactly the look I'm going for. So if I made proxies of my raw files, could I reconform them into my timeline that already has raw files cut the way they need to be? In other words a reverse conform?
Thanks for the help. I hope this doesn't sound too ridiculous hahaha.
(Of course the tv studio look vs cinematic look was supported by lighting and set design, but if this works, I think it will give it an authentic touch that no one can put their finger on.)
EDIT: I am shooting 5k HD and cutting in a 1920x1080 timeline
