One week into our first feature film shot 100% on RED ONE with MX sensor.

This film is going to kick ass.

We are putting the MX to test on this one. Shooting on a frozen lake upstate New York - almost entirely exterior. You don't even want to know how cold it is.

Hey Mark,
is that a T-bag you using there? If yes i'm noticing a lot of space not used behind the camera. I'm really close to buy the Compact but would like to test it before.
It looks like you having a blast out there, really would love to see some footage.

T-bag rules! Yeah - I like the room because you can fit the Optimo Rouge with room to spare. Abel has them in stock and on display. GREAT product.

We have a 35 Superspeed in there. So that definitely makes it seem like there is a ton of room, BUT I certainly would not go smaller.

Is the port in front of the bag plastic or glass? For the price tag, I would expect glass, even if it is more fragile than plastic and impossible to polish off when scratched, but this bag is intended for a lot of half/half or over/under shots, where glass shines as water does't stick to it as it does with plastic.

try and stay warm Pat!!!

is the T-Bag being used for heat reasons at all, or strictly to keep it dry from the surrounding snow/ice?

Glass for the flat front, acrylic for the dome front.

The compact tbag fits snug and nice too which we used today!

The Compact T-Bag can fit a RED with a 14mm Ultra prime with some room to spare. The full sized T-Bag can fit a RED with an Angenieux 17-80 with plenty of room! Haven't tried the 24-290 yet! The T-bag is a great tool and my favorite part is that it is designed to take just about any camera so it's quite future-proof.

Sure looks cold there!

Sorry to hijack, Mark!

Mitch, is there any type of housing for the Red 7-inch LCD with T-Bag? I'm thinking I'd like to try that baby out in May for shot on the Salt River. I guess, worst case scenario, I could rent a 5.6-inch LCD.

What if the thing leaks and fries the Red? Do I eat the insurance claim?

Hey Tom,

The rig that we have here had a 5.6" setup and I don't believe they had support for the 7"(when renting I wasn't given the option). They also had the option of a 4" LCD. Either way Mitch has a great point about it being able to fit many different types of cameras. It really is a neat little rig and after using both the compact and the full size I definitely think the full size is a smarter investment even with the new form factor of EPIC.

No 7" housing, just 5.6". Also a sealed underwater 4" HD-SDI monitor available. One can use the 4" LCD outside the bag and swing over the RED LCD mounted on the camera inside the T-Bag and pointing out the side. Good for an AC and a nice way to see the other monitor info on the screen.

As for insurance claims, the T-Bag is a piece of support equipment. What happens if a tripod fails and the camera crashes to the ground? It's the same thing.
