  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

HYDROGEN preorders...

OOOOOOh Very nice, all the bases covered..... Or it stays pretty stable but folks have an awesome exchange system where HYDROGEN folks put time and skills in and get something completely tangible out the other end... In a far more direct and immediate way. There's some genius thinking behind that that is definitely ahead of the curve and much more direct.

...
Crypto Currencies to Red Tokens... the upshot could be that the R-Tokens become a safe haven (due to somewhat stabilized value) when other Coins (or even currencies?) start trading erratic.

Indeed!

Safe haven... That's a big deal... I'm co-trustee with BofA on certain trusts (obviously not my own) and I kind of bicker with BofA trust department from time to time about various BS "metrics" of risk versus pro-spective returns... I feel much happier when markets correct them selves rather than inflate with nothing real to under pin them.

The investing climate of the 80's and 90's will never return and I think at least in the USA that folks need to be a bit more hands on, practical and in the driving seat for their own financial future. Something like RED_tokens might provide some stability (Perhaps). Many times there were products that I loved and wanted to invest in and then you dig deep on the companies and find there are other issues that make it not such a terrific investment in spite of amazing leading products and capabilities.

Many times I think "safe Haven" better than conglomerated/massively aggregated low grade speculation... Where the potential to lose substantially is still there.. And entities like BofA have no recourse if they drive your trains off the cliff. THEY Bof A will always survive (to big to fail). Even when BofA gets the best of the best in the world to manage their portfolios.

The illusion or reality of safety and "Control" is very important to people (I think ), it's interesting to gauge the levels of risk that different individuals are able to tolerate... It seems to be a very personal thing and not necessarily predictable (perhaps) from individual to individual.

Of course we are talking Janet Yellin/Ben Bernanke/Alan Greenspan level consultants, but the safe haven could work IF RED tokens limited the amount of exchange 1. to take place on a daily basis and 2. if a max cap of exchange were allowed during a certain time frame.

This would mirror the idea of the SEC halting trading during a financial crisis.

I think that would be fantastic... I was kinda thinking the same thing how do you keep a gentle hold of the reins... And apply the brakes / freezes when necessary. I was thinking about limited amount of exchange and the different ways that could be limited or set up so it self regulates fairly well.

Interesting about SEC's ability to freeze during a financial crisis. (That would be really important and also could provide a nice ratchet mechanism that keeps RED-Tokens stable/ or increase in value under favourable condition but not necessarily slide backwards.). LONG TERM view is always important when it comes to notions of investment, rather than knee-jerk panics or over reactions.

Not to get too political but a lot regulations that were put in place to stop another sub prime lending scandal/domino effect / crash have in substantial part been reversed / undone in a rather stealthy fashion since the "new" administration.

As far as Bof A goes its' more like Larry Fink/Black Rock... He is probably the most respected and responsible in the "Business"... I wonder what Larry F would make of all this ;-)

So who gets to play "greenspan" with Red_Tokens or is there some kind of algorithm that is a first stage "regulator" with manual intervention from the currency "Overlord" ?

So I guess from time to time you get a special "trading season" on RED tokens or is it the other way round where normal trading is permitted on a daily basis (like you say) with occasional freezes?

Also curious would insider trading be possible under a RED_Token scheme or similar ? Legally or not? Or are there natural mechanisms that prevent that ?

What is the SEC (Securities And Exchange Commission) and purpose - - https://www.investopedia.com/terms/s/sec.asp

Investopedia does some good videos... Good jargon busters too I think / explainers

^^^Need to check voracity of these statement but might be in-line with Red_Token idea at least on the up-side rather than the exploitation of crypto currencies on the super speculative/darker side.

The fact that Larry sees the potential with greater regulation is a good "Metric" in my book.

Maybe @H Dewey RED/HYDROGEN could derive a good balance/formula for that.

Yes to the limited amount of exchange per account, as well as EACH exchange. This would be a way to favor the smaller player which would probably apply to Hydrogen users.

Indeed, token stability would be the Prime Objective.

Probably an algorithm as you suggest.

But I'm only suggesting the permitted exchange with other Coins as a way to broaden the Hydrogen ecosystem. There wouldn't be a set number of RED Tokens since anyone who posted an .h4v video would perhaps earn tokens based on length, and then based on views, a bonus number of tokens allotted. It would actually become a floating (expanding with new content and contracting with movement into Cryto Currency or cash or redemption through exchange for RED products) "money supply."

Also curious would insider trading be possible under a RED_Token scheme or similar ? ...
Not sure about that but I think since this would be based on participation (uploaded content as primary source of new Tokens) it would be hard to insider trade.

I may want to revise my suggestion of limited exchange. That is, RED would only be facilitating the exchange between current Token owners and Cryptos, there should be no exposure to RED itself as they are only liable for the redemption to RED products or cash, if they choose to add cash as part of the plan.

Also having second thoughts about Crytos being exchanged for RED Tokens. I'm now thinking there should be an out for a RED Token accumulator, but should not allow Crypto owners into the RED ecosystem as non content providers.

This would possibly defeat the main purpose of expanding the Hydrogen user base.

EDIT: Disregard the above. I mean why would a Crypto owner want to exchange for RED Tokens if he or she couldn't redeem them!? face palm. :)

^^^Honestly I think that's really perfect...

In the case of RED Tokens being purchased using Bit coin, Would that result in an unfavorable heomorgae of your currency (similar to burning bank notes? ). Reminds me of old school economics and when currencies shifted off the Gold standard... I think it makes sense to keep R_T within the RED-Ecosystem and be redeemable for real $ or RED HW/SW / RED_NETWORK benefits.

Personally I think it makes sense to have a RED_TOKEN to bounce around several times within the RED_Ecosystem rather than have that Red_Token "bounce out" of the RED_Ecosystem. Keeping within RED ecosystem helps all red/Hydrogen token users... (at least for the first few years perhaps). Presumably there would be a fractional penalty for conversion to regular $s. Also the complication of different currencies in different countries.

I think in general (Red_token) scheme is a twist on the old fashioned idea of owning shares in the company you work for... (but in this case it's not shares/stock nor are you working directly for a corporation, but much more about being part of a discrete yet expansive "Eco-system" and at the same time have a much better direct route to funding etc. through the "Likes/YouTube model"... Combined with the AMEX "rewards scheme"... pre-order folks or HYDROGEN "folks/members have special privileges?

I think the idea of doing great work on HYDROGEN network to provide special breaks or redeemable tokens to buy "Kit" from RED or through RED (maybe in connection to third parties) might be very interesting. Incentives that provide the practical means to raise your game (like further invest in RED HW) could be very excellent indeed. Pure talent + views/ likes ... Hmmmm.

I think the redeemable tokens also work well for the unexpected future modularity of HYDROGEN modules... Lets say some folks / users want to upgrade on the Pro-sumer line versus folks that want to go all out on the professional modules...

(maybe? )

I don't think the Tokens being purchased by Crytos would affect the Tokens since RED would always know how many tokens there were and what they were liable for. But I also agree with your hypothesis that the token holders could just be better off if RED allowed redemption for currency along with goods and services. My initial thoughts were that bringing in Cryto currency owners would be a faster way of making Hydrogen One a household name, worldwide.

Agreed.

Red Tokens for Kickstarter type stuff on HYDROGEN Network...

Red Tokens for Kickstarter type stuff on HYDROGEN Network...

Just a minor "Brain fart"...

With RED Network/ HYDRGEN_NETWORK could someone launch a "Kickstarter" type campaign (therefore) using Red_Tokens?

I.e. Someone could perhaps in part fund the development of Apps for HYDROGEN or even media content or physical accessories?

All the time I hear amount hardware and various types of mounts that folks want... (Just a simple and small example).

That might provide a better trading network for 3rd party developers of Hardware and Software and media content and even "How too" types stuff/manuals / documentation to basically serve HYDROGEN users and HYDROGEN Network users better ? (perhaps?)...

If that was possible I wonder what the "Architecture" for that would entail? As well as to keep things real, fair and above board.

Also might allow folks (a bit like Patreon) to be sponsors/ small scale mini "Producers" in a way; not sure how that flies in that face of normal union rules etc. for regular commercial work vs. rules of "Social media networks?" ?

Agreed.

(In terms of bootstrapping RED Token to other Crypto currencies or do you mean introducing Red Tokens to HYDROGEN users? ) ... At the back of my mind during our little 'exchange" here is actually the STATUS value of RED tokens in their own right. Jim Jannard IS a genius for brand building and I think the possible partial exclusivity of RED_Tokens linked to advanced social media and HYDROGEN being a new form of visual communication that leaves the others in the dust... Will make quite a big splash... I don't see the need necessarily to dilute the brand with other Crypto currencies and that may shift "product" perception. As you say @ HD stability IS the priority (and non-speculative nature)...

But I have to admit to have a RED Crypto currency would be cool as hell I think, both fun and stable... and most importantly USEFUL to HYDROGEN users :-)

Fundamentally I always believe product differentiation is really important, especially if you have the best of a world class solution... There will be others that try to ride in on the coat tails of HYDROGEN.

The scaled steady growth of Hydrogen and Hydrogen network and maybe something like RED_Tokens develop in balance at a steady and healthy rate hand in hand in hand. That's more healthy than runaway bubbles on a rollercoaster totally exploding out of control on a World Wide scale.

The currency has to serve the RED_users/ecosystem (primarily) rather than be an instrument of speculation on a massive / global scale.

I think over time things will grow and scale nicely and in a healthy ways. If RED tokens are proven to be very stable and viable over the next few years who knows? Maybe it can join forces with other stable and proven crypto-currencies?

Kinda reminds me of the Maastricht treat in Europe juts before France and Germany (and others ) were able to stabilize things to go to the Euro from French Franks and German Deutschmarks... Took quite a bit of time to build trading mechanisms to stabilize that to make it all happen. [Not saying it was necessarily a good idea but, interesting that virtually every French countryman/ farmer was able to argue very coherently reciting paragraphs from the pretty thick document / Maastricht Treaty proposal...

Lot to be said for having your own currency that IS stable.

As I said, that was my initial thinking. And as far as helping make Hydrogen a world-wide phenomenon, climbing on the back of Crypto, which already is a WW phenomenon, would get Hydrogen much press. Not only that but many of the millions of people who own Crypto just might make Hydrogen the primary phone, knowing that they could exchange their coins for RED Tokens to pay for Hydrogen apps, hardware, RED Channel content in .4v, much of which will be 3d movies converted to .4v.

Compare this to the phone they are now carrying and you've just recruited millions of new users world wide.

All well and good during the old linear days... but we live in exponential times. :)

Someone could create an ERC-20 token called RED and in the whitepaper state the funds raised in the ICO will be used to fund worthy Red related projects. Then Eric, Wayne etc. can dust off their ideas and put them into production. Would $100 million be sufficient?

H, another thread off the rails.

You guys are making my head hurt and I mine ETH .... I really dont see this as a good idea

Lets get back to phone specs and guessing how good 2D camera is going to be as that is what is important to me :)

I figured cryptocurrency and moon landings were half the fun!

So, you aren't interested in .H4V? Just curious.

That was my thinking also that it might be there could be certain RED / HYDROGEN products that could only be bought using RED Tokens...

There is an interesting parallel here that the Chinese / PRC have a large number of US dollars and yet the USA borrows a huge amount from China... I have always joked that the USA to repay the debt that "we" the citizens would have to give up Wisconsin as repayment for the debt/ loans...

But interestingly and more constructively Foxconn and the Taiwanese "Interface" develop manufacturing facilities in the USA... So that could be a win, win win,

I understand the "Exponential metrics" of what VC's (venture capitalists look for)... Orders of magnitude... not linear scaling as you say.

Indeed... (just leave Stanley Kubrick's eyebrows out of it this time lol (cough cough Mr WM).

Didn't the Chinese launch an orbiting lunar satellite a couple of years ago that shows aerial reconnaissance / satellite imagery of the Lunar Landing sites from Apollo as well as the effects of disturbed soil from the Lunar rovers?
