Why is REDVOLT shipped if there is no place to put it on?

How am I supposed to use it?

And when should I expect to have something that can use the revolts.

Looks like the DSMC side handles are starting to ship, so that will at least let you use a Redvolt... It's been a long time since I've heard any word on the battery mount.

Look on the bright side - at least you're not asking about the pro I/O module! ;)

So for now only solution to power EPIC is to use RED Bricks and adapter cable?

What is pro I/O module ? :) I don't know or I would be asking :)

Jarred posted this in the Backorder thread in Recon this morning. He had a few other responses as well if you want to check it out.

Ok.. time for an update :)

PRO/IO - Production tooling finally kicked off. Still needs FCC certification when it comes out of fab, which means Likely April.

DSMC Tactical Adapter - Mini - For all orders up till today- out of backorder Next Thursday

DSMC Tactical Right Adapter - For all orders up till today- out of backorder Next Wed.

DSMC Ti Canon Mount - For all orders up till today - out of backorder Mid January.

DSMC Tactical Right Adapter - For all orders up till today - out of backorder next Friday.

Epic Quickplate - For all orders up till today - out of backorder next Friday.

Quad Battery module - slipped a bit.. Starts to ship mid January.

Module Adapter - Starts to ship mid January.

DSMC Side Handle - For all orders up till today- out of backorder Feb.

Quad Charger - Begins shipping January 14th :)

They shipped because they were ready. Mine sat on the shelf for a month until my side handle arrived. I think they are going out fast and steady now.

Battery module will open it up even further, but shooting handheld with a single redvolt in the side handle is a dream!

Is it possible to hot-swap a RedVolt in a Side-Handle?
The Red Store says something to that effect in the description for the Side Handle...anyone know ?

I am pretty sure that you will lose power if you only have a redvolt in the handle. if you have ac power plugged in, yes you can swap a new red volt in the handle and the camera will stay on.

I think yes, provided there is an alternate power source like the Quad Battery Module.

Hmm not quite sure I understand that note re: shipping of DSMC side handle.... he means they're shipping, and all orders up until now will be out of back order by February? Meaning, people who recently ordered the side handle will have to wait till February? Wow...

Pretty sure that means if you ordered by yesterday you will get it soon. It will completely be out of backorder in February for those who order today.........just my take on the above

I first received my 4 RedVolts and charger....then a month or more later my Side Handle....then a month or more later my EPIC....they ship what they have, when they have it...that is how RED works....that is why you should order what you want as soon as possible and not wait...if not you might end up waiting for a long time.

I ordered te side handle and batteries right away when they hit the store. They are ready for epic and scarlet. I'd rather wait on the camera than have a camera an no way to use.

I am powering mine with the AC adaptor.
And a 150W inverter in my car!

But will probably get the VF battery plate once the longer cables are available.

No one has cleared up the warranty issue about the RedVolts. i.e. they have a 3 months warranty. What happens if you don't get the battery module until you have had the batteries for 3 months, and then find that they are faulty? No warranty.

For those of us who have no way to test our RedVolts, I'm sure if you report a problem upon first use RED will take care of the repair or replacement.

My bomb squad rep responded by reviewing the warranty, which is 90 days from date of receipt. But keep in mind RED is a reasonable company that I'm sure won't leave you in the cold if your unused revolt or sad is dead as soon as you plug it in.

Anybody know if the a redvolt (in the side handle) can be used in conjunction with a mounted brick? If so is there a priority as to which battery is drained first? If nothing else the Redvolt in the side handle may provide a means to hotswap bricks for continued shooting... I would very much like to know if this has been tested.

i don't know about priority sid, maybe it can be set? but i do know you can use them both at the same time and hot swap.
