  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

How to save window layout?

No. You have to live with the window GUI layout Blackmagic provides.

Sessions will remember relative sizes of different parts of the GUI windows, however. I tend to have a smaller Viewer and a larger Node space, and I do have Thumbnails and the Timeline turned on, but nothing special beyond that.

The best thing I found to optimize the Resolve GUI is just to get a bigger display. I'm pretty happy with the 27" Dell I'm using, and everything I need is right in my field of vision. And I've been using this crap for many decades. If I can get used to this, anybody can.

Thanks.

I just saved my layout by setting up a new empty session, arranging the layout how I like it and then saving the project as "My DaVinci Layout". Now I can just open this empty project then click save project as, name it whatever the session is called and proceed as normal without having to arrange the layout every time.

You can make small changes in the existing Color windows, but you can't move them around. Not yet, anyway. I agree, creating a template is an efficient way to begin new projects, particularly with the new "Power Bin" feature in 12.5. I don't believe the window positions save at all in the Media, Edit, or Deliver pages, but portions may be alterable a little bit.
