  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

How the edl works in RCX ?

Avid Media Composer to REDcineX with EDL

Avid Media Composer to REDcineX with EDL

Avid Media Composer to REDCINE-X with an EDL.

In Media Composer open your sequence and Output - EDL.
Avid EDL.jpg

Just be sure to use TC1 instead of 24 inside the Record TC. (24 is my project setting, YOU use TC1).

Beside Active Settings there is an Edit Button. Click it.

The EDL Options box opens up.

Record TC should be set to your project setting. See first Picture. Review the others, then...

Click Save settings.

Click Get Sequence then Click File - Save as.

Close Avid Media Composer and Open REDCINE X 351.

Inside REDCINE X Click File - New Project and Click Discard

--Fresh Start.--

Then Click REDCINE - X at the top left and Click on Preferences.

Then Click on Import.

Click CHANGE and find your Volume of R3D Files.

Make sure FPS is matched to your Project setting.

Match everything else and Click OK.

Now Click File - Import EDL CMX3600.

Find your EDL and everything should load in REDCINE X.

xml import doesn't seem to work

xml import doesn't seem to work

Also the fcp xml works fine. You can import directly a fcp timeline of prores and RCX replaces them with r3d files. It works best with one video track only.

I can't seem to get the fcp xml to work with RCX 351. I have our feature broken down into 5 reels and each reel will only import 4 clips. EDL seems to work but frame rotations are ignored. Do you know if xml imports frame crops and rotations from fcp?

Does anyone have any tips on how to get xml working?

thanks - your help is much appreciated.

ps. I should mention the fcp timeline I"m trying to import (the same that works for EDL) is an Hproxy timeline...

Hey guys

Where exactly do you see the 'import EDL' function?
I don't have any of that, in my REDCINE-X build 262.

What am i doing wrong?

Downloaded the latest RCX from red.com/support, so whats up?

thanks!

Daniel

fcp xml imported into rcx adds one frame per clip so for now don't use it. Use EDL and set source to exclusive. I remove every effect and transition prior to send the timeline from fcp to rcx or use clipfinder.

My preferences is dimmed - can't acces it. What to do to enter it?
