  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

How many Scarlets or Epics will you buy?

From the offset I plan on getting a fixed and and a cinema. For a modest amount of money you have all your bases covered. The fixed is more like getting a lens with a camera on the back, than camera with a lens on the front. A high quality zoom lens is not cheap glass.

In a years time I will likely pick up an S35 Scarlet, more when I need it!!

I'm thinking one or two Fixed, with a good array of accessories, and then an S35 when released. :)

Greeeed lol

In the first 12 months 2 fixed Scarlets then the 35s

Depending on if they are released in time, probably 5 Epics and maybe 2-3 fixed Scarlets.

I'm probably going to get a Scarlet 2/3 fixed and then sell the brain and keep the modules once Scarlet S35 hits.

Hopefully there won't be a long period between both.

I'm terrified of RED deciding to release them a year apart in order to generate more sales for the 2/3 system.

I intend to shoot my 2012 and beyond projects on 5K 35 mm.

Where's the 'likes this' button when you need it?

One Scarlet S35 once I can afford it. I've priced it out to about $23,000 with camera accessories (though I'm sure the old accessory prices from last November are no longer accurate).

I might also do that, only hoping that there will be around 6 months between them. Or maybe keep the 2/3 fixed just to have the ability to shoot 120fps.

Theoretically, there's no reason for RED to delay Scarlet S35 much longer since it's pretty much a stripped down EPIC.

At my most optimistic I'd like to see it this time next year.

Realistically I think Scarlet 2/3 fixed will probably be coming around this time.

And Scarlet S35 is going to be a Spring 2012 camera.

One fixed if/when I can afford it...

Maybe one S35 if I can afford AND justify the investment :)

I believe the Scarlet Fixed along with the Epics are going to be released early 2011. March - April. It may even be February 2011, but I think NAB 2011 will be the venue. It was meant to be released this Autumn, but we had the 3 month delay. That takes us to January, but as I say I think Spring of 2011.

Be patient, they are coming!! If you aren't patient and buy a AF100 instead, you WILL be kicking yourself by April.

If the cameras are ready they will ship, Red is a business and camera sales equals revenue! Nab is just a fixed point in time, if the cameras are ready in January/February my guess is there be release then.
