  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

How long of a shot can you take on the EPIC?

i'm shooting a documentary and was wondering how long of a shot we can continuously hold on?

Is it something that i'm limited to Media wise?

Just curious...

Much thanx...

You're pretty much limited to the media size. I've rolled 45 minute through 1.5 hour takes.

I recently had an issue running for an hour long interview - the camera switched itself off near the 60 minute mark, on camera I could not play the clip and had no choice but to restart the interview as a safety.
Luckily when I went home the clip was fine..also the client was incredibly accommodating and had asked to repeat the interview to clean up some answers.

Lately I have been keeping it to 15 minutes then cutting and re rolling just as a safety its near on seamless but it means if you do end up with an error the other clips are already safe.

oh I've shot for hours and hours man in a single roll...timelapses 1fps, don't know if that is helpful tho :)

Much thanx for the replies...

My interviews take seem to be running in at about 15 - 20 minutes a take...

But i was curious about running the camera for an hour or so...

Again, much thanx to all for the replies...

That's a good habit. I don't care how long it rolls. If I can take a break and swap in a new card I will.

I'm old school...I wish we can go back to exporting to a hard drive. Not one that cost 2-3K for pro res
