Just realized I have never exported still images as r3d from davinci, just trims. Cant seam to find it?

Patrick,

Yeah, it the best way that I know of and you have so many more options available to customize the .R3D still like better cropping and even selecting a specific "Scaling Algorithm " for the best sharpness of the still for a specific Scene type.

I'm scratching my head trying to figure out the scenario behind this question... what do you then do with the single-frame R3D? Maybe there's a more direct way to get there.
Apart from the use as Lens Cap Frame for a RED support ticket, of course.

There is several reason to export r3d frames. I did it a lot before when i was using premiere as my editor (before resolve had editing). Liked to save out r3d frames as a small and nimble library of shots. The file sizes is super small and you have all the control if you want to print them out. Yesterday I wanted to send some images to another colorist and it just feels more natural to keep it raw as long you can.

Atleast now I know its not possible. I will ad at ticket to bmd that it would be great to have this option.

Thanks for all answers.

Absolutely get the point now. I usually export stills with LUT from the color page as TIFF for others to use because they often don't know what to do with these R3D files. But R3D is certainly the more versatile option without having a look baked in.

You can also export the Lut you made in Resolve and import it into Redcine-X and export a .R3D still with the Lut attached. I believe you can update the .R3D file in Resolve with the Raw parameters and when you open it in Redcine-X, the changes will be there.
