  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

How do I install a lemo wire in a vmount plate

Any qualified specialist should be able to wire it for you. The wiring diagram is in the Epic manual. You could either hard-wire it or include a female lemo cable. Pretty easy stuff but if done incorrectly can lead to very expensive repair.

Send it over and we'll take care of it :-)
I wish I could but I really need it for a shoot urgently and I'm in Egypt. I have the 4 pin lemo to flying lead. I'm not sure if that helps though. I can use any cable even if i have to cut it but I just need this ASAP.

I highly recommend Jason's V plate conversion, he did a perfect job!

user manual page 171,
i re wired my pilot, but if you're not confident get a technician to do this for you;

Mohamed,
I am not sure how/if my pictures will help you, but sure
I bought an XLR cable just for that, cut the XLR jack, black and white go to ground, green and red to +,
carefully just cut thin data cables , can't remember the color, but they are very thin, if you are going to use power adapter, cables color could be different, so just test them,
if you have foggy idea how to, please don't do that, just hire technician,
best.

I'll hire someone, but most techinicians in Egypt aren't very good. So I just want to make sure what he's doing is right. Do i atytach both black and white to one ground or to the two different ground cables?

Well I hired a technician and he wired each cable individually. It now shows on the camera 15.8V or 15.7V
Is that normal?

both, cuz they go to pin 4 and 5 on lemo, there shouldn't be two ground cables in your V lock plate;
and also + contact on V lock - both wires from pins 1 and 2,
whatever color they might be, must check with diagram from manual.
it's easy, it's plus and ground, that's it, but if you do it wrong:)
I learned it hard way, it cost me $1200 power board on my EX1, on your epic it'll cost you a bit more, so think twice :)
just don't mix the polarity;

I already sent it to the technician and it's working fine. Could something go wrong later on?

only if technician did a crappy job and wires will short,
other than that should be fine, it's just a wire
