What should be done to cutdown rendering time? The i7 PC has Quadro 5000, 64GB ram but still giving quite bit time to render. Does Redrocket card help? Any suggestion.

Disc read / write speed is just as important. What's your material laying on / what are yo rendering to?

RedRocket was made to boost render times. But enabling GPU (OpenCL), increasing the amount of RAM and CPU RCXp can use, and not applying Alchemy Group can reduce render times massively. I would also make sure DEB and ADD are disabled (if you're on Dragon).

Honestly the render times aren't that bad... Plus you could also use .r3d natively in a few different editors nowadays...

Thanks, Most of materials are Epic. The disk i have are all 7200rpm. After CC we are rendering for 2K theater release.

I will definitely go through this. 2hrs movie taking abt 4/5 days to render in Scratch. I am planing to add 1 or 2 Redrocket card to cutdown the render time. Is it a viable solution? sent you a PM also.

Scratch might be the problem. Are you only using it to transcode footage (prior to edit) or is this the final output of the project that has, up to this point been .r3d (colour corrected)?

I usually default to "RCXp" when people talk about render times. Truth is, at 4k-6k, it may just take Scratch that long to render out a colour corrected/graded timeline...

...And yes, RedRockets (presuming their supported in Scartch) are used to do just that.

No, it is a final output to 2K or 1080P from r3d files. Buying couple of Rockets, hopefully that helps

A couple?

One rocket gives you realtime... How fast do you need the render?

I got a rocket in thunderbolt enclosure if you are interested. PM me.

I remember tests done in Scratch using 4 or 5 RR cards to handle stereo Epic footage when the Epic was released a few years ago.
Nowadays Scratch v8.x can use either RR cards, RR-X card or the RED GPU debayer.
A well balanced system with decent CPU and GPU can playback full-size 5K Epic material, as shown at last NAB on PC or new MacPros.
