  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hint...

Feel free to not answer this, but is Oct 30th an official product announcement date or is it when pre-orders/reservations start? Or both or nobody knows?

Pretty understandable change of heart Jim, and I believe it to be a very smart move, even so many would not mind at all having an other working in progress new camera system, I believe that cause of the design, and the specs, and various offering, this time around the customers number will be indeed far larger, and there for will be safer to ship a finished product, as even those that would not want to deal with a work in progress if it was to be released, they would buy it any ways, and then BItch from ere to China about it.

So look forward to the 30th.
 
I was trying to explain to my GF about my excitement over an announcement of an announcement.

Thanks, for anyone planning major projects, this is the best news we can get, either way. We can set expectations on good or bad news. Too bad my next project won't be a RED one, but at least I don't have to delay it hoping. Does not change my position to buy!

Too bad you can't do it both ways, I think a lot of us would not mind beta testing, and act as a testing ground for your whole delivery pipeline. Of course I'm a scarlet so that would count me out anyway!

But non the less, this is terrific news! Thanks for letting us know.
 
If I don't get a Scarlet in the next 6 months - I'm going to explode.

I don't think so, I think not knowing how long you have to wait... to know how long you have to wait is much harder. Did I get that right? With what Jim announced, now we know that we'll know soon enough, and that is good enough... Funny we do really get excited at news that is not really news!

What was it again? Oh yah, expect a delay. NP!

I second that...but I'll even settle to test out the Scarlet. :tongue_smilie:

We already had our first snowfall and shooting ext on our current production, RED, once again in the minus temp weather, performed like a king. But we know there was never any doubt.

I would. however, love to see how the other smaller bodies handle the chill.

Seriously though, take your time (within reason from a business sense, of course). It sounds like it's not just a matter of working out a few last minute kinks, but possibly raising the quality and feature set even higher. :hurray:

Knowing Jim, he will probably be hovering over his mouse ready to hit the "Post" button on Thursday night at midnight. Or at least I hope so. :thumbsup: :sifone:
 
:biggrin: You're wrong Jim. A delay does translate into a big price increase. I decided to set aside X money per month until the camera shipped. Only problem is I set $X per month to coincide with a FF35 package in Summer 09. Delay too much longer and I'll be buying the 645 epic.

I can't just go back on my promises to myself.

I hope something is out by my birthday (July 1st).
