I have been on this forum as long as anyone. The truth is that outside the reduser walls there is a lot of dissing of red going on mainly because of this site. Quit being a pompous dick to people coming here with questions or perceived issues with the red camera no matter how rude or misinformed they seem. It doesn't help. Neither does saying it has 14 stops of lattitude and highlight handling better than film or whatever uninformed crap is being spewed. News flash. People who know about cameras and filmmaking might actually be skeptical of the Red and for good reason. Telling them that they are stupid and uninformed is not going to make them Red believers. As a red owner I have to deal with many naysayers and I think I've done a pretty good job of swaying them toward the Red, if indeed it is the best camera for the job. I don't lie and I don't boast. I tell them about lattitude issues and the not so standard post workflow, but I also tell them truthfully that it is still one of the best digital cinema cameras around, especially for the price. It is up to the people of this forum to take the high road and give accurate information without attitude unless they just want to talk on this forum and not actually get work with their Red.

agreed, i agree with people making the heated remarks for the most part, but a bit more tact never hurt anyone. By all means, tell someone that they're incorrect, but i feel it too often it turns to insults when it doesn't need to.

All very true.

And anyhow, there are probably more appropriate places to compare appendage sizes.

Like public restrooms for example.

On a more realistic note - if a person has a question or frustration about the camera, it is probably a good idea to calmly point out where they are correct and just as calmly let them know where they have erred.

That way everybody is happy, and we all keep our pants on.

I totally agree. The arrogance in this board knows no bounds. The irony hits home when you see people's reels. If the board had a better search engine or if the Red site had better support, we probably wouldn't see some of the perceived "naive" questions/statements that we do here. With few exceptions, the fanboys that are here day in, day out can do so because they're not booked. It's as simple as that. And I'm confident enough to sign my name.

Nick Shields.
