  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hexacopter project on kickstarter...

I was just about to say something very nasty about government organizations,
their lack of focus on the relevant issues, restrictions of freedoms and waste of taxpayer
dollars for unnecessary regulations and enforcement but then I bit my tongue.

I might not have to stop you, axel. The FAA will probably take care of that…

Yeah..wonder if FAA had anything to do with KickStarter cancelling this today....as currently commercial use
is not allowed...but hobbyist use is...which is a somewhat problematical distinction.

Hey Everyone,
Kickstarter ended this project. We don't really know why. They haven't contacted us with any reason.... or any info at all aside from that it has been canceled.
We will still complete the project on our own. We've been really amazed by the amount of support you all have shown. If you are interested in getting updates you can join our email list here: http://eye3.be

Kickstarter is blowing up. Wonder if I could use it to raise $4 million for an IMAX film? :emote_happyhappy:

At 5% ouch. You could do it without kickstarter and save yourself some money.

"Hexacopter - for redundancy, lifting power and safety"

There is no redundancy in a Hexa setup. Gotta go Octo if you want actual motor redundancy.

Or Y6, like mine. Totally redundant (and I've tested it). But yea, Flat hexa has no redundancy at all.

And packs up easier :)

Kickstarter was probably cancelled because that project was just packaged other peoples parts. Probably China copying a certain other Chineese corporation. Groundstation software and box shots look exactly the same.

Matt, I see you put speed controllers away on the booms, it is how I crashed one of mine one day after logging 80 hours or so on it without any problems.

Speed controllers like to produce interference once mounted away from control circuitry. It just went upside down on me without any reason. The ground wire pickup some drop of voltage and it is how all started.

I had flight control data recorded and after analysis we have seen clearly that one of the sides was shut down due to excessive error. Good that I didn’t have camera mounted on it at this time. It landed upside down on concrete.
Octo is the best, stabilising only 3 points is difficult.
I am trying to get Octo with double motors like yours for total of 16 driven by three independent voting systems.
