  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

HE STOLE MY EPIC-X

Damn Kwan I can't believe that.. I'm happy it turned out the way it did. Smart thinking on your behalf using the app to track him down!!

Almost good enough to go in "Criminal Minds". I get a bit vexed when somebody knocks off the verge plants. To lose an EPIC would consign me to the realm of the criminally insane. - Good outcome.

Glad you got you cam back - But I must say this is a reason why I would never buy a car that is flashy like that, especially while shooting. Our vehicles are completely bland and unnoticeable, and we've never had a problem in any city, not even in central Atlanta.

A word to the wise even though it's a great story, I would be careful about posting all this info.
In the US, innocent until proven guilty. Technically his lawyer can sue you for defamation.
This is why "alleged suspect" must be used until proven guilty in the US.
The man is an opportunist. Right now you are creating an opportunity, with that image of him.

Ah yes, forums count as media today.

PS: And you definitely cannot publish his address with those iphone screengrabs.

I say rats to this.....I doubt first he has an attorney on retainer. Second, time to stand up to dogs like this and make everyone aware. I'd want to know if there was a rat living a block from me....Funny in my neighborhood, i've caught six...yes six thieves and one guy that slugged a girl....all of them i ran down and jumped and tied up with duct tape for the cops....What ever happened to this type of attitude. My neighbors think i'm idiotic and all want to mind their own business and "not get involved" That aint no world i want to live in.
Set an example and do the right thing...to hell with the lawyers....and i imagine if Mr. X ever did sue you, the judge would laugh it off....

Hey all,

no need to use an IPhone, this device tracks vehicles, and small enough to be disguised as a module you can attach to the camera. The battery will last three weeks without a charge.

Wow, that's insane. Good for you!

I'm looking into and wondering if something like this could be built into or added to the inside of a battery plate:

http://fmtv.us/rf_beacon.html

It's starting to be used by guys with RC Helicopters in case their copter goes down and can't be found. Not fully sure how it works yet, but it's very small.

Seems only good for up to 5km, but like in this case, the thief was probably local to the crime scene.

All is well that ends well, I am very happy you were able to recover your camera Kwan.

I agreed, but If this was happend in NYC then forget it. Trust me it wasn't easy at all. Luckily we had 4 tracking devices on set and additional tracking devices was from my house as well. All of them was pointing at the same place when he was on the move, so it was easier to convince PD. On top of that I seen the guy who happened to passed by when I was stepping out from my car so I recognized him right away. He was well known local thief, because when first time officer called him, he called him by his name (lol). Once I sent the "Sound play" via stolen Mode, phone started to screaming inside his duffle bag thats how we confirmed and they arrested him. Still PD can't search his bag, we waiting for judge to issue the search warrant (on monday morning). Can't explain but I am pretty sure everything is safe.

Hi Tom! We are using a GPS device which we installed inside the foam of our Pelican Case.. The device points out current location, last journeys and enables us to establish secure areas, as well as forbidden ones.. All this info is sent to me automatically to my email or can be live updated via the GPS app.. Great device.. the only negative aspect is that needs to be recharged every 3 days.. You should check with a local security company to have one installed.. :)
