Anyone know of a standalone audio (low cost, field usable) solution, so I can just monitor the embedded audio (all 4) in the HDsdi out coming from the RED camera?

you are looking for an audio de-embedder or converter.

AJA makes a few

Hi5 3G which goes from HD-SDI to HDMI + 8 channels of audio on RCA connectors (or embedded on the HDMI signal itself).

HD10CEA is HD-SDI to component video and balanced audio on DB-25

HD10AM or HD10AMA is a simple AES audion embedder / de-embedder for 8 or 4 channels respectively.

Not sure what your definition of "cheap" is. if you go with an AES solution, then you need audio equipment that can handle AES digital inputs. don't know what audio RED sends down the HD-SDI connection, never tested, but hopefully this steers you in the right direction.
