These were taken at the same time as the "barn shot". I'm doing some testing of HDRx in REDCINE-X (early build) and thought I would post as we go along.

These are all UNGRADED. I took a frame of "normal", "under" and then one from the standard HDRx blend tool using NO SLIDER CONTROL (default settings). With the slider, you can have more or less highlight protection... as you wish. These are LOW QUALITY screen grabs from the files stacked up in Photoshop. But you get the idea. I think we used +3 on both of these... can't quite remember, I'm getting old and the metadata wasn't in back then. Opened with REDcolor2 and REDgamma2. No other settings were touched or grading done in either REDCINE-X or Photoshop! Again, this is from the standard HDRx blend tool with no slider control.

Note: Back then we probably cheated a bit with the normal exposure and put it a tad over. Please don't tell anyone.

That is really awesome, Jim.

Can the mixture of the two exposures be easily adjusted over the length of a shot?

Example: A transition from inside to outside.

It's almost an ethereal look. Dope.

Like the carrot on the string.... HDRx dangled in front of me... but no happy r3ds to call up into REDcine!

It's amazing! I really cannot wait.

As some people know I shot a series of ancient churches last year where it was forbidden for me to take any kind of artificial lighting in with me. I had to expose as best I could but with blinding light streaming through a dozen windows and beautiful dark wood panelling. What the hell do you do? Well the only thing you can do. I have replaced some of the windows in post but you still lose most of the window framing/lead stain glass/bars.

HDRx™ would have been a dream come true and captured what was truly there for the eye to see

You have two tracks so you can combine them as you wish. We don't have any tools for this yet... but seems like a useful tool. :-)

Awesome Jim. This feature alone would make Epic-S worth twice the asking price at 1080/25p. (But don't tell the boss - DOH!)

Was bracketing not an option? Churches don't move very quickly, consecutive exposures would have given you the same thing as HDRx No?

Edit: Oh you probably mean a movie shoot. Haha. I forgot about camera moves.

Sort of like Keyframing the Effect?

Yeah ... That's exactly what I was getting at.

If you could keyframe the blend of the two exposures over the length of a moving shot ... that would be insane.
