  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

HDRx footage...

Absolutely fantastic!

Also looking forward to get Noctilux f/0.95 or Nokton f/1.1 (both the fastest FF35mm lenses available) on Epic/Scarlet

and get real available light shots that were not possible even using any of the fastest film stocks ever made

or any digital acquisition system even using the latest DSLRs with high ISO and sort of HDR enabled.

Competitors A, B and C that today advertise they have a camera with more filmic look than R1MX are already in panic.

This Vegas shot as as a special sign tells us also that EPIC will start shipping after NAB 2011 and probably not before.

It's this place, right?

A challenge, really:

W-o-w-.-.-.

could you please tell us what camera that was shot with?

IT´S ALIVE!!!, ALIVE!!!
Congrats!

As they say on facebook: <3

They said on the "Facebook" link that it was in front of Binion's Gambling Hall and Hotel in Las Vegas...:biggrinjester:

I'll try to say this again:

Anyone noticed the smoothness of the motion?
Yup. I can see, there is, but THAT as well as the DR is the biggie for me in this image.

Fast pans, subjects going left and right, no strobing whatsover.

This is THE big biggie I see.

Yes. HDR is cool, too... -:)

Gunleik, I noticed that too.

I'm still learning about digital image-making and don't know all the artifacts to look for like some of the eagle-eyed posters, but can see the obvious things.

That was smooth. I spent a half-hour plus looking for comet tails and sharpening/blurring artifacts that were mentioned but I couldn't find the nits to pick. It was lovely.

So excited for this I can't express it in a post without sounding silly.

HDRx™ + a 4K 16bit post production pipeline is going to give a incredible moving images - and control over those images.

EPIC WILL BE THE MOST SOUGHT AFTER CINEMA CAMERA IN THE INDUSTRY - WORLDWIDE - ALMOST OVERNIGHT

Yes Jim - put it in Scarlet - keep the price increase as low as possible - it will separate you from the "prosumer" DSLR/camcorder competition.

Worth the wait and then some.

This looks FANTASTIC!!!! Can´t wait to work with it!
I was dreaming of this feature abaot a year ago, and now it´s a reality. Thank you guys!!! :)

funny thing is - there are even MORE features on EPIC that have not even been announced yet. Most powerful moving image camera system PERIOD. But like I said in another post - HDRx™™™ is the single biggest achievement from RED since REDCODE.
My camera(s) just keep accruing value. It's like after ordering an automobile the dealership calls you up and says, "Oh yeah, we've decided to add on a bunch of options at no extra cost that we've thought up while building it. Hope you don't mind."

The jury is still out on Scarlet and HDR but it just does not have the processing power of an EPIC.

I have to wonder if Scarlet owners would prefer HDR in their cameras if they had to pay extra for it. We could up the processing power by adding boards but that will cost money and I'm not sure if Scarlet buyers will go for it. Some feedback on this would be helpful on another thread in the Scarlet section of reduser. Given the change in development path, board costs, an additional ASIC and "stuff", we are probably looking at an additional $1000 more or less.

If we did this, Scarlet could have both EasyHDR™™™ at 30fps and HDRx™™™ to 60fps.

Just thinking out loud here...

Someone want to start a thread there? It should be good for a lively debate.

Jim

Bring it on Jim! I can't imagine Scarlet without HDR now - If we are talking another $1000 or therabouts then it really is a no-brainer and will make indie filmmakers lives so much better.

One question; would having the HDR modes on Scarlet require the addition of an SSD module?

Loving what you guys are doing! :)

Many thanks,

Adam

Will the Scarlet 2/3" require the same $1000 add on as well? Considering its sensor is so much smaller and it pushes out a fraction of the pixels, one might wonder if it will require the same kind of boost a S35 might need, which can't do more than 30fps at full resolution (whereas the Scarlet 2/3" does 120fps at its full resolution - more than the Epic). Perhaps a cheaper upgrade could suffice on the Scarlet 2/3"? Just looking for a clarification.

Very impressive!
I do a lot of audio processing and always thought of "compressing" visual data.

Now it's a reality and getting better until release.

EPIC is getting a lot better than I expected.

Congratulations to the achievement.
