RED Team,

While thinking about HDRx, it occurred to me that having the ability to quickly monitor the "shutter track" live would be quite useful.

As a feature request, it would be great to be able to set a USER Button to toggle between the A and X tracks (shutter) to be able to look at the X track live.

This monitor mode would obviously be shown in text on the EVF/LCD and you would not be able to roll while monitoring. (similar to Magnify).

It would be very helpful for many shoots, especially Stills from Motion... Thoughts?

I have requested this, too...

The answer has so far been in the realm of "why would you want to do that?"

Which kinda makes sense, until you stand there with the practical need/wish.

I would have liked to see the HDRx solution implemented with the choice of which track you want to monitor...

+1.

Even if you just want to use it as a fast way of figuring out which level of HDRx is needed when recording.

There are a couple of times when I thought I had the highlights covered but realized I should have gone one notch higher...

Not an urgent request for sure, but if RED would consider adding it at some point, I'm sure it would be appreciated.

Stop your aperture down the same number of stops as you have selected in HDRx. That works.

We have some monitor path issues to deal with...

That's my method.

Pick the stop I want to shoot. Stop down until my highlights stop clipping. Figure out how many stops I closed down [round up to the nearest stop]. Set HDR to that number.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the reply. Yes, that method works well.

Looking forward to future developments here, in good time. :-)
