Normally I wouldn't post a project here, but recently shot a spot for HBO on my Scarlet. Normally I use Scarlet as a B-Cam for Epic shoots, however this seemed like a nice application.

We saw this spot the other day...I can totally relate...nice work...

Thanks. It was a fun one. I thought other Scarlet owners would get a kick out of it as well.

Looks good. But I did notice a few shots were pretty scaled. Just being picky Hee hee :)

The only shots scaled were the mailbox closeup and (i think) the closer shot of the plant. However even those were scaled down to the HD finish so technically there wasn't any blowups above the 4K frame.

Curious why that would even matter? I shoot 4/5K for HD all the time specifically to have the scaling options and benefits. Its one of the primary reasons I own and shoot red.

I like the way this looked with the minimal lighting we had in the interior situations. That said, if I were to be picky and self critical I'd say the camera (Epic/Scarlet) isn't fast enough for todays style of shooting. Would very much like to see the next iteration have base chip ISO of 1600 with little or no noise.

I think you'll get your wish. Jim posted awhile ago that Dragon @ ISO 2000 is better than the MX sensor @ ISO 800.

Yeah. Now the question is to buy an Epic now and wait in line for the sensor upgrade or wait and buy a DRAGON EPIC new.
I think (but certainly don't know) Scarlet may be a bit of a dead end for the Dragon. I can't see upgrades happening until well after Epic, and then its gonna be pricey.

The sweet spot for Scarlet seems to be getting all one's money worth right now. ;)

Jim and Jarred have said there will be some sort of upgrade path for Scarlet owners. Maybe a Dragon Scarlet or maybe a trade-in upgrade path to a Dragon Epic. I also don't think Dragon sensor upgrades will take as long as people think. We'll see... :)

I hope you're right...but I still think there may be an Epic in my near future. I just use that cam on way to many projects.

Yes the mailbox and the plant were actually the only 2 shots that jumped out at me. You're right it doesn't matter. It was just an observation. I've grown accustomed to doing the same in my work and I guess I can spot it... that's all. Great work as I also mentioned.
