Just look at it! Beautiful... just fffin beautiful...

Hey Eric

Strong look + great talent BTW.

P.s . who deserves credit for the music track ?

Thanks so much for the in depth write up! I've been waiting for some info to be released since that first vague report. Can't wait to take a look at the .R3D grabs.

Hey Eric,
Any update on when you'll be able to post the .r3d grabs? Very eager to play with the high res versions of these shots!

I had a chance to test the Hawk Vintage '74 anamorphics for my feature, A Girl and A Gun. Unfortunately we pushed the film until the summer but we were still able to shoot a few tests with the lenses. In short they looked incredible on the Epic, organic and beautiful. They really are an amazing set of lenses. Here's a compilation of some of our tests and also a more detailed blog post. I'll put up R3D stills soon.

God, I LOVE the look of Hawks... it's unreal how they look. Great footage man.

I meant to ask... in the footage up by Griffith (amazing city backdrop, btw), did you catch any static from anyone bugging you about permits? Did you strip down your rig? Anywhere I seem to go with a rig (especially with a mattebox), it never fails - I get stopped and asked for permits. Even one time (before I had a Scarlet) I was shooting a shoot with a DSLR on a jib with ONE actor on the side of the road in the desert of Palmdale... sure enough, a cop rolls up, "Do you have a permit?" I'm so hesitant to plan a gun n' gun shoot anywhere in LA with 'real' actors because of the potential embarrassment of getting shut down. I wish the cops out here would be as concerned about stopping crime as they are about making sure the city gets money for a permit.

I've watched this test a couple of times now. LOVE it. Those Hawks look sick. Great, organic skintones. Mindblowing bat-shit-crazy bokeh.

Just wanted to say thanks for the .r3ds and to bump this thread... It's amazing glass, no doubt, but the lighting is just as solid...
