Could be anywhere in the world today.
I got a gear hard on today,
I put my most favorite and treasured lenses system onto my favorite camera today... ooooo meeeee ooooo my...

Years ago I purchased probably the most expensive lens system in the world at the time, A full set of Hasselblad F.2 lenses from 20mm t0 135mm all re housed into hand made PL lens heaven!
I think only 5 sets were made. So expensive nobody bought them, so they made some cheaper sets using 35mm Nikon glass.

These lenses have over 8 centimeters diameter coverage (meaning they can cover imax with room to spare). The swing-shift holder has 5 huge movements, upto 25mm, and 45 degrees either and any which way...
Arri and Canons shift kits only have two movements. We can turn this thing inside out and get the most amazing images ever. Super Macro and long lens all in an instant. Use them as a prime, or a vertical or horizontal perspective straightner, or just for plane art!

We tested them on the EPIC today and were just amazed with what we saw. We did some poster prints AO up today from some stills we grabbed from the footage, Serious looked like I shot it on a medium format camera. So so sharp yet in the forced out of focus areas it was like soft cream...

The best thing is, I stuck this unit onto a Mono pod and just walked around, not a tripod in sight... Watching things move in and out of focus at F8... so so so much control.
All of my prays have been answered !.

Could this shit get any better!...

Oh... just incase nobody has seen the RED ONE and EPIC M chip size difference.. heres a pic.

would really like to see some examples! sounds great!

Yeah, all the Epic-Ms that I have seen pics of have the Mysterium-X printer on the front. And yes Epic and R1 both use MX sensor. I imagine, there will be a red dragon plate or sticker available for those who upgrade once it comes out :)

Thanks Solomon... Heart skipped a beat there thinking Epic X's are out and all....

haha! Yeah...thought you missed the memo? lol. Nah, everyone is patiently waiting still. I heard some big companies have their Japanese supply chains almost in order (rumored). So I am hoping RED is close to getting supplies soon also, and the long wait will soon be over :D

And I was so excited about the notice that my Duclos 11-16 is on the way. Someone will always have cooler toys eh? :)

Ooooooooh.... I want those lenses. :) And you're all ready for EPIC-645, whenever that happens. I'm scared to ask how much you paid for those converted Hassies...

I have been using Hasselblad glass on my RED MX for a while now. All you need is a Hasselblad to PL adaptor, I bought mine from EBAY for about $400.

The thing is that the original Hasselblad glass from the 60's is a bit milky as the coatings were not very good. If you wish to do this but T* Sonnar lenses, they are black and from the 80's.
They are excellent and don't cost a lot. I wouldn't bother getting them converted to PL as the adapter is excellent.

The only problem is that the Hasselblad glass start at about 50MM. and go 50, 80,120 and 250mm as a standard set . I have never seen a 20mm but I have seen a couple of 40mm.

The T* match perfectly with super speeds in colour and contrast. I have a very good lens tech in Sydney, Australia that specialises in restoring these lenses if needed.

Have fun with them Mark. Now there are two of us in Australia doing this!

I love the 120mm. I still shoot on a 500 ELM with a Phase on P45+ digital back. I love this setup and the pictures are amazing. I would never have my lenses converted to PL i could not ever use them on my blad.

Trust me the adapter is perfect. The only tricky thing is focus pulling and you really can't change the IRIS mid shot. I use a normal Chroziel matt box with a rubber insert and its great. Especially the 250mm for closeups. It end up being nearly 500MM and 900 something at 2K.

My saving grace is all the glass has been ripped out of the original lens housing. re housed in special made housings and siting in a mutli direction bellows mount. We have no focus issues from one inch to infinity.. no lens hitting anything in the back when screwing the swing shift around due to the shaft design going into the camera. Other than the glass being typical medium format BLAD, Ziess... (super crisp), the rest is all hand made by the ultimate lens nerds.. Gotta love em :)
With the Hasselblad there were no 18mm... but the people that made this kit, made an 18mm from the glass through addition glass elements they had sourced...

I'm not going to tell you what I paid, because you would think I was nuts! I used to shoot 10x8 inche as a photograher on a P2 SINAR. Having complete lens control I always wanted that for my 35mm work..

Can you upload some pics? Also who made them for you? My guy who is an old motion picture engineer is rehousing some vintage square front lomo anamorphics 35, 50 and 80. I have gone through about 10 lenses to get a good set before he has been both rehousing and restoring them.

If anyone needs a good lens tech/ engineer in sydney, His name is Peter Grabavich from Photographic and General instruments. He repairs any movie camera ever made, Hasselblads, Nikons, Canons, ETC.

He is in his 70's now but I have known him all my life and his work is second to none.

I will upload some pics next week of my Hasselblad rig for RED MX. It is quite simple and works very well. Nothing like what Mark has done, but still very effective for a different look. I use them all of the time for talking head chroma key work and music video/arty stuff.

Hey Mark I still shoot on my fathers Toyo 5x4 all of the time with 1960's Roddenstock Grandagons! The P45+ with a special adapter takes 3 shots and stitches them together. Ideal for jewellery or shooting buildings etc, when you need to get all of the angles correct or for shooting macro.

5x4 and 10x8 is a lost art buddy, I am training my juniors on how to shoot with it. I hope you still have yours and do the same.
