  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Has anyone recieved the microMatteBox for Red One?

My Micro MB shipped this week and arrives Monday.

Asked yesterday the same question..this is what I received from Redrock

English is not my native language but for what I understand is that you have to wait for at least 60 days after ordering without any guarentee when they will actually ship.
Must say a funny way of doing business - asking your customer to pay in advance without giving a timescale when goods will be delivered

It's not normal in my experience, but I really think this arrangement works when you stand to save so much. I guess you have to follow your gut, mine tells me they're established, reputable and the email flow is good even after they have my money.

Micro Mattebox looks like a great value... but unfortunately no 15mm studio support...leaving alot of us on the west coast without a low-cost option.
Here's hoping 15mm offset/studio support version of the Micro Mattebox will be coming shortly!

I gotta agree. I mean, what was the point of getting on the list 6 months ago, and paying 2 months ago when you could just pay for it when their available and only have to wait 1 week more than reservation holders? :\
 
I'm starting to get pretty impatient with the entire reservation process in general. Between RED and Redrock Micro I will just wait from now on with any product until they are readily available before purchase as to not be dissapointed by the delays. I understand what they are doing takes time but I'm a little turned off by now by these sales tactics. I just want what I paid for already!
 
If Arri comes out with their new, cheaper matte box before my redrock order is up I'll be canceling my order and going with Arri.
 
Sometimes its worth it to pay more for something you know 100% will be reliable and accurate. Its hard to make plans around gear they tell you not to plan into your productions until its at your door but let's face it, we all have plans for the gear we purchase around the estimates these companies give us If we didnt, we wouldnt be prepared for it when it arrives.
I'm taking my own much needed break from these types of deals from now. It makes me question what kind of consumer I am and should be. Its my own fault but some healthy reflection time seems mandatory.
 
This is so far beyond dissapointing!!!! How hard can it be - Jesus, this is a mattebox (it's not a new camera)!!! "The final delivery schedule is a little behind from our last update" is quite a understatement I must say. I'm frustratated like hell for the moment!!!

What's with all the 3rd party vendors? They collect 100 % of your money, way in advance, and no one hits their target date. Not by a long shot. At least Red only collected 10% of your hard earned money. Lets see, Red Rock has 100% of my money (from early April), oh sure it'll ship max 30 days after NAB. View Factor has 100% of my money, guess what? they are delayed, imagine that. Birger has my money, all be it, not 100%. I think they should pay interest if they don't make their target dates, or at least a discount. Other wise don't collect 100% of the funds, and only collect partial payment, like Red. How motivated are these vendors when they have 100% of your cash. Oh well, maybe I should have cough up the cash for the MB-20 or the Vocas 450. At least I would have had something besides empty promises and poor QC on the production line (that seems the reason for every vendors delay) Got to love China.:angry03: :angry03:

Anyhow, I paid the full amount in April. So I'm realistically looking at the beginning of August meaning they'll be holding on to my cash for two months. Why even pay the full amount if the product isn't going to be available for another two months on the order date? Besides I thought it was illegal to charge for something before it has shipped?

Agh. The urge to go hit "cancel order" and get a refund is strong. Better go eat something instead.

I can totally understand the frustration.. especially since I reserved the mattebox two NABs ago. On the other hand, I doubt we'll ever see another mattebox come close to this price/performance wise..so as delayed as it is..I'm really just excited that this is actually coming. Sure another company may step up..but looking at how long it took for this mattebox development..it's not going to be anytime soon. If it were easy to make a mattebox for this price..another company would have done it already..and the fact is..they haven't. With all that said..bring me the mattebox! =)
