  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hartblei Tilt-Shift Lenses

I have a 45mm Super Rotator in PL mount. It's cool. Gets used for Pack Shots and sometimes wacky in camera focus racks.

Best Bokeh of any lens in that range I've ever used. I think it's basically a symmetrical wwII era zeiss design with modern coating.

It's easy to make a P6 to PL mount adapter.

Looks decent WFO, very good at 5.6.

I had 2 and now Finner has one so we can see what he says when he puts it on his camera.

Thanks Matt. Can you post anything?

E. :-)

I don't see PL mounted versions available - did you get it custom built?

Matt has a metal shop in his basement and builds the PL adapter there.

This is just the beginning of the tricks this lens can do - there is still shift
and the focal plane or shift plane can each be individually rotated.

Wouw,
one question to understand better, so you made an adapter RED-PL to P6, added the rot-shit lens and then added a NIKON(?) lens?

To have the possibility to shift the lens would be fantastic for stereoscopic filming.
Thanks, Istvan

Nikon does not figure into it... PL to P6, add Hartblei Super Rotator.

THE KING OF SWING SHIFT LENS SYSTEMS IS CINEMAGIC, CLAIRMONTS WITH ZIESS OPTICS all at f2.
These things can point any direction.

Rare lens Gold, pure Gold!

If you ever stumble over a set, buy them without hesitation.
Even the cheaper Century / canon optics versions are good.

More Hartblei magic...

More Hartblei magic...

Here's another example of what the Hartblei Super-Rotators can do:

CLICK HERE FOR A HI-RES SAMPLE

This was a test shot done with the 80mm f/2.8 Hartblei, off a Nikon D300. Take a look at the clock, then the car behind it and the tree branches in the f.g., the yellow lines on the street below, etc.

How's that for selective focus and twisted perspectives?

That's really cool!

Where was the picture taken?

Nice Shot ! It's quite trippy when you rack focus on a setup like that.

Thanks, Matt. Shot that with the Hartblei fresh out of the box, right after delivery. Couldn't wait to try something right away.

Now, as you look at that shot, imagine if instead it were a high angle over a scene where a bride walks to the altar... or at a baseball park, where a runner tries to steal home... And that the only thing in focus is the actual path they have to follow. You get the picture.

To me, the Hartbleis are more useful than traditional T&S lenses in that no only do they tilt and shift, but they also rotate as well. And that makes a world of difference. Of course, the set-ups tend to take a bit longer and have to be planned carefully in advance, but once you get the hang of it, it comes naturally.

BTW, ATF... that was shot in Madison, New Jersey.
