  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hanging Oconnor 2060 upside down

Are you concerned about the camera's attachment point to the head or the head's attachment point to ____? The camera's QRP will be enough to hold it in place upside-down, at least on a 2575. I don't have as much experience with the 2060's mechanism, but I must assume that if it's properly adjusted, it'll be similarly resilient.

If you used the offset arm on the bottom of this page.

Both Chapman and Fisher have similar attachments for rent.
Then just attatch the normal head plate (upside down) to the top of an ET top mount cheese plate

and you will get a similar effect to the Ronford F7 underslung head or a Weaver Steadman, which both can be rented from any good camera or dolly rental house. I actually prefer having a special head rigged before hand and have the camera rigged almost the same as normal.

We make an underslung bracket for holding your camera underneath your upside-down fluid head:

(scroll down the page)

Also on that page is our Z bracket which allows you to put the lens axis in line with the tilt axis of the head (head stays upright) but the camera is dropped down and can go to the floor. Better tilt function this way, closer to a Ronford F7, Cartoni Lamda, Weaver Steadman, etc.

You could also undersling your camera without the underslung bracket by screwing the quick release to our Handle for RED One which has 3/8-16 threads machined into it at various points.

I used one of Douglas' underslung brackets last week with the Seven Jib in a scene where the camera had to fly just above a kitchen counter top and continue on into the living room. It worked great, as always. For the price, it is kind of silly not to have one in the truck.

The 2060 uses the same QRP as the 2575. But, you'll get a much more rigid and safe attachment if you replace the QRP with the dovetail itself. To mount the camera on the head, you can either attach the quick release plate to the cheese plate on top of the camera, or you can attach an arri style bridge plate to the cheeseplate and do the same thing. We actually attach bridge plates to our cheese plates to mount Red's on the 3D beamsplitter rig. Works great.
