Who has the best handheld setup for red ? I know there is lots of stuff in the works but I haven't seen anything yet that nails it. Anyone want to share ?

When you say handheld do you mean shoulder mounted, from above by top handles, with steadicam, body-braced? What is the scenario?

Tangohead.com is where you'll find them. Isaia & Co. is the U.S. distributor.

Fredrick,

Can you recommend an actual shoulder mount to go with them? Blue Handles are just a handle system.

I made up a decent lightweight set-up. (Arent the FD mount and 50/f1.2 cute?)

Native 15mm support...Velcro shoulder pad...perfect battery mount and balance...

Works for me!

Good start.

The Blue handle system from Tango is as good and as smart as it gets. I've beet the shit out of them in rental and they keep performing.

Either Tango blue handles or Arri handles on a rod-mounted rosette base combined with a wearable or velcro'd shoulder pad will be your best bet as of today. It'll be the lowest profile as well... and will enable the lowest CG. Then be sure to balance your onboard accessories to keep the rig from being too front/tail heavy.

There isn't a good shipping RED-specific handheld system.

I bought the Ugrip RED kit. Nice handles, good build quality. But the need for a hex key for every adjustment kinda sucks and some adjustments or configurations are downright impossible due to the flat, unilateral design. I think the Ugrip gear is a bit overpriced, even after the NAB discount I got. Their universal mounts and mounting box for the RED Drive are great though.

I'll wait to see what other handheld systems come to market over the next several months. If I had to do it over again now (and will probably do so within the next year), I would spend the extra for the Blue Handle system.
