  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

GROUP BUY - Zacuto Kameleon EVF

Any chance Zacuto will open this group buy again?
 
Those who got the Kameleon... how are you liking it with DSMC2 cameras? How's the fan noise? And, how are you attaching it to the camera?

I'm back in the market for an EVF and it's either this or a used RED EVF at a similar price point.
 
I love mine.I had the Gratical eye, Blackmagic EVF and RED dsmc1. Colors aren't the most accurate, but resolution, tools, field of view, size are really good. It's made for what it's meant for : framing.
I use it on my Recoil rig with EVF attachement. Very handy.

Fan noise is nearly unexistant. You can hear it when you put your ear on it.

Thanks Patrick, reassuring to know about the fan noise. Waiting to receive mine in a couple of weeks. Hoping it plays well.
 
I'm looking for an EVF myself, so might be interested in this. (Very curious about the new Portkeys options, though.)

Thanks, Bill. I had seen a few, but not on the new Red version. Aside from the fact it's cheaper, I like the I/O and powering options, but wonder if they've been able to tame the fan a bit...

This group buy was finished nearly two years ago-- the party is definitely over!

If it were back on, I'd buy one today. I'll bet there's more demand for EVFs with the release of the Komodo (though some users will find the lack of SDI out on the Kameleon a dealbreaker).

Interestingly, there's a new piece on Newsshooter about EVFs, might be worth checking out if you're in the market:

Haha I thought so, but thought I'd ask and see. I just received my Komodo this week but my monitor is on order, thought an EVF would be a good idea as well.
