  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

GROUP BUY - Tilta Nucleus-M Wireless Follow Focus

Hey Chris, any word on the test unit? Read on the FB group that they will shipping by 27th, I would want to presume that the test unit should at least have been shipped to you earlier than their mass shipping estimate. If you receive your test unit same time with the mass shipping, I wouldn't know if the review would be of much help by then

They held my test unit back to fix issues that will NOT be present on the release versions. I'd rather wait anyways for the production run as opposed to having something that's defective as that wouldn't ease anyone's concerns. I should still get it hopefully a tad sooner, but I'll keep you guys posted as soon as I receive it.
 
Following this group buy from the side line. Find it very interesting.

If those tilta handles even work half as good as they claim it´s a huge game changer and that will make other FF solutions difficult to justify both in use and for price. If they dont hold up as promised it´s going to cause huge drama as well.

Now, I dont say I dont believe in this. I really wish Tilta stir up this part of the industry as it has been crazy overpriced for quite some time. But personally I could not justify getting another FF thingy as of now as I bought too much such stuff all ready.

So yes, popcorn time at end of month for us that did not jump on this as I understand :)
 
Anyone know what power cable I would need to power these from a 7.2V female 2.5mm DC output?

This is a problem. We were told our range would be 1KM+ with the base hand unit. Tilta never mentioned anything about special antennas, at what $$$?

From Tilta on FB

"we have not done final range test yet, it will be done by this week. The info on the website 100ft and 300ft is based on the first demo that we have in the office. But we did not really calibrate this demo one. The production version should be at least 700ft~1000ft with out extra antenna for the hand unit, cause we use the similar chip for Nucleus II, and that one is around 1000ft range. So will update the final distance test here very soon without antenna. The 1 mile with extra antenna test will be also post here very soon."
 
Regarding the range...I have spoken with Tilta and they are going to release a $15-$20 range extender antenna that would get it up to that range of 1KM. I agree, frustrating that we were told it came with that range stock, but maybe after further development they couldn't get it to work for whatever reason without adding an accessory. Trying to get as much details as possible regarding that "add-on" antenna and when it will be available for you drone guys.

Would be nice from Tilta to send it later for free (also with China Post or other slow but unexpensive way) to all the people of the GB, after all the difficulties occoured in the process, as a little reward for patience and trust placed by all the buyers...

I am glad that the remedy is only the cost of a bottle of Pancro.
 
I swung by their Burbank location today to see the unit in person. It was the same pre-pro unit they showed at NAB, and they told me there had been a bunch of tweaks to it since then.

That said, I was extremely impressed. Build quality is great and the system is very quick, accurate and responsive. They demo it with a dummy lens on which they've made the focus ring pretty stiff and the motor handles it with ease.

They also said they have 100 units made and they'll be shipping out next week. They expect to make 400 in August. As new #155 on the updated list he said I'd most likely get mine in August. The units are shipping from China and take 4 days to ship to the US.

Is there a new master list of people who ordered and paid? I can only find the list with 500 people on it. Maybe I am a little dense.

is it too late to get in on this group buy? I've got a gig in september that Id love to use it for, just not sure if ti will ship in time.
