  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Group Buy - Tilta Gravity Gimbal

I fly my Weapon, brick, matte box, cine glass, focus motor, etc. all day long with this, and definitely trust its integrity. But again thats only around 15 lbs or so. I certainly think 33 lbs is an inflated overall system rating on Tiltas part. Sounds like what everyone is saying is accurate, the motors can do 33 but the rig can't house 33 correctly. Seems like you could get Alexa with short/medium lens only. But wouldn't know cause I only use my Red on it which the Gravity definitely works great for.

I assume you can get a full 90 degree tilt down with the brick attached to the back. I don't own Red bricks so I don't know how big they are but I'm trying to get a sense if I can still get clearance with a 220Wh Dyna Core on the back.

Hi Brody, What setups are you using the Gravity for? (handheld, tripod, car mount, jib, rope rigs etc.) I would love to know what's giving you good results with that camera pkg. Thanks!

It fits a RED with the new DSMC2 side handle attached correct? As would be annoying to detach it each time, I like to keep mine on to switch to handheld quickly.

My Gravity and Armor Man 2 were delivered today. Shipping was a pleasant surprise, it was shipped on 10/11 and wasn't scheduled for delivery until Monday 10/17...which I thought was fast to start with. I transferred $ to Tilta via Bank wire on 9/7. I'll post more after I've spent some time with them. Shipping was very fast, packed well, and the storm cases are very nice.

Thanks Chris!

Nice....

Brody nailed what I was trying to say "the motors can do 33 but the rig can't house 33 correctly". Everyone else had great and valuable comments as well.

I am testing big builds on vehicle mounts up to 70mph (driving on the 5 fwy)....if you happen live in burbank you might catch me on one of my test runs....

F**K

Praying I'm not driving behind you on the freeway when this thing goes sideways.

Please tell me you're kidding and that you're only doing something like this on a closed circuit track. or that the unit is entirely inside your vehicle.

You might not be able to with the large sized brick, it all depends on the configuration tho. When setting up for 90 I put the battery on the handlebars, and use much less weight on the front. Works fine that way.

Hi Aaron, Ive used it handheld, it definitely works well there, Ready rig or similar is necessary. Jib works good so long as you configure to go 90 degrees like I mentioned above (unless your going to stay near 90 and not transition to horizon), I am still getting the hang of the Mimic, there is a slight lag, but I hear they are updating that, its new to me so still undecided on how I feel about it. I have been using C-stand mounting as Tilta hasn't released there universal upright mount yet, going to buy the one Pedro made tho. We know there is an issue with turning on upsidedown, firmware it looks like. I am getting a new car rig soon but haven't used it there yet (well see if Pedro's rig made it back in one piece lol), no but really the motors are very strong so I don't see wind speed shake really being a problem, I don't see the mimic working fantastically there, going to get a remote for that. Overall to me it is the old Ronin Version 2.0.

Ok, not that big a deal as I'll most likely mount the brick on the back of the Armor-Man. My longest & heaviest lens i'll use on a regular will be a Sigma 18-35, other than that there will be Leica R primes, keeping it short & light.

Oh. With that light of a front end ya it will probably work fine for ya.

I also have a tendency to do wheelies on my Ducati ......

But seriously....I do my best to make it as safe as possible.

my delivery was notified as 10/17 via DHL too..

These cases are very very nice! Gravity and Armor Man build quality exceeded my expectations out of the box. Dealing with incoming End of the World wind storm here in Seattle so will have to postpone first run with it today.

on my way to pickup the Gravity and AM2 from the office. DHL just dropped it off.

waaaaayyyy faster delivery than expected. and we saved money??? wow
