Group Buy - Tilta Gravity Gimbal

Update

Update

Ok...so just had a lengthy conversation with Tilta. So originally an extra battery was apparently not going to be included (meaning only 1 was going to be included) unless we reached 50 orders, then a second, free battery would be included. It was a mis-understanding, however, Tilta WILL now be including a second battery for free. If we hit the 50 tier, another battery won't be included as they are giving it early.

Heres everything that is included (doesn't include second free battery)

so even though your invoice may or not include everything in this image, it will all be in your shipment. And for those of you who are ordering extra batteries and saw that you were being barged full price, that will be adjusted and resent to you with the discount. There are power cables included which will enable you to power the Gravity with your brick battery as wel!

Regarding the shipping - Titla is working hard on getting that number to he $300 flat rate for those of you who orders both there Gravity and the Armorman, however it's costing more than they had originally thought, which is why some of you are seeing a slight increase. They will let us know tomorrow if they can't get it dropped by $60. This is part of the reason why they are including that second free battery now...as a way to help offset the $60 increase.

All quotes will be revised on or before Tuesday.

Will keep you guys posted.

Thanks a lot Chris, I bet a lot appreciate the 2nd battery being included. Glad to know everything on the checklist is included.

Thanks for being on top of all this Chris.

What kind of power cable is it that allows us to use our bricks?

Did you happen to get any clarification on the cases included for both the gimbal and armorman? I don't see one on the checklist image you posted here.

Wasn't there supposed to be a quick release as well you mentioned for putting the gimbal on a job or other support pieces or did I misunderstand?

No problem sir!

With these included power cables:

Here's the circuitry diagram for you too:
Yes, the cases are included.

If we hit 50, yea, they will include that Jib/Car Plate/Tripod adapter so you can disconnect the handlebars and mount the gimbal onto the unit of your choice on set.

First of all, thanks Chris for all your work on this and thanks for putting this together! Sorry if this is slightly off topic, as its not regarding the group buy, but I am curious how the Gravity can be remotely operated (besides the Motion Control Module)? Having a great gimbal that performs well in high speeds, wind etc. is one thing - but at least from my experience those are all scenarios where it'd be remotely/dual operated (drone, car mount, heli etc). A simple RC controller (Futaba) would be the bare minimum - something similar to Freeflys MoVI controller or even the Alpha Wheels would be interesting down the line. The question is what is the communication and does the Gravity even have S-Bus compatibility?

Thanks!

Chris I want in on this group buy for the Tilta Gravity.. not sure yet on the Armorman but I will decide that before the group buy ends depending on how many ppl are signed up. the savings are unreal.

Its a shame Tilta doesn't provide speed(24p) examples in their promo video.

There's a couple places where it looks to have the classic micro judder that is all too common with gimbal use in my experience.

We already reached the max discount level of 25%, doesn't matter anymore people sign on after this. We passed 30, and the 25% discount applied to Armorman as well. They already invoiced at 1687!
Excep of course we hit 50, they will include that Jib/Car Plate/Tripod adapter

I believe the tier for the bonus QR plate ("Jib/Car Plate/Tripod adapter") was 30, not 50, as of post #66: "Tilta WILL be including a QR plate for easy jib connection to the gimbal if we hit 30 orders..."

Thanks for clarifying Chris. I don't see the hard wheeled case, assuming that will be included. Can you confirm please?

Yang is speaking with the engineers regarding this. Will relay the Intel as soon as I get it.

We are already at the max tier. Gotcha down!

With any new piece of equipment, especially gimbals, you need to know how they work and how to best operate them. It's not as simple as walking as flat footed as you want and you'll get butter smooth Steadicam-ish gliding/tracking shots. It takes practice. I've been operating gimbals for several years now and have gotten decent at walking with them to relay the least amount of vertical movement to to my shots. Walking marching band style by rolling onto your feet helps...by a lot! Also, keeping your arms loose and bent helps to almost act like suspension, dampening the vertical movement yet again.

In terms of jittery movement with any gimbal, try lowering the motors tuning settings...which will make the motors work less, thus preventing some of that jittery movement you may be seeing.

The plate will actually be at 50 Gravity orders. Titla is already eating a lot of the shipping/import costs and is including quite a bit for us on this group buy at an insane savings amount. Let's be appreciate and thankful for what they are doing and not get greedy.

Yes, case(cases) are included...please see a page or 2 back.

Chris, How does the gravity compare to the M10? Build quality, balance, and smoothness? Since you have been using the M10, will you be putting the Gravity to work as well? I was about to pull the trigger on an M10 setup until I saw this. I am in Seattle so having Freefly in the backyard for any support is appealing. However, this deal is great price wise and would allow the addition ArmorMan 2. Sounds like this setup would get me the same reliability as M10? Appreciate the input and the organizing of this GB.

Chris, Its an insane deal, nobody is disputing that!!! And we all appreciate it. I don't think quoting what you reported as part of the offering is being "greedy". If Tilta is changing the terms of the offering base on what margin of discount they have offered then it should be well stated and explained. Keeping quiet and then inferring to a call out as greed is not the best. Once again, thanks. I think this the best gimbal deal so far! and the Armorman throw-in just seals it. Thanks

M10 payload = 12 lbs (M5 = 5 lbs, M15 = 15 lbs)
Gravity payload = 33 lbs

The MoVI has always been the staple in the gimbal marketplace, however, I've never lost a job because I wasn't going to use a MoVI for that particular job and chose to use something else instead. From the use I've gotten out of the Gravity thus far, it has performed VERY well, though I have only had it for almost 2 months or so. The Gravity is much faster to balance and is obviously very adjustable for camera support, which makes it the most versatile gimbal I have ever used. In terms of reliability, that will only be revealed with time, but Tilta stands behind their products. Having Freefly in your backyard is great, and I don't think anything can compare, however, I think the Gravity is better at this point in time than the MoVI. You can't go wrong with either choice really.

NEW UPDATE

NEW UPDATE

Ok so here's where we stand.

Tilta currently has 25 Gravity's in stock which would ship in 7-10 business days after payment has been received. They also have 20+ Armormans in stock as well. The rest of the Gravity's would ship within 4 weeks of payment being received. For those that are willing to wait for their Gravity, Tilta will include another free battery as a thank you for your patience, making the total to (3) batteries (1 included in the kit, and 2 free).

The shipping of $360 flat rate to USA (for those that are getting both the Gravity + Armorman) needs to unfortunately remain at the $360 price point. Since this is $60 higher than what Tilta thought originally, they will be including a custom Armorman power cable which can be integrated into the Armorman and can power your Gravity. The cable is $120, but they will be including that free of charge to offset the extra $60 shipping cost.

Tilta will ALSO be including that QR plate that enables you to attach the gimbals to jibs, car mounts, etc. Finally got that one resolved. Haha

And yes, for the many PM's I've gotten regarding the cases, they ARE included, so no need to worry. Wish people would read the thread posts. Hehe

I'll be spamming out another set of instructions just to make sure every understands/sees this, so be on the lookout for that. Sorry for all the back and forth...I'm just the middle man trying to make both parties happy, which I think now, we all can be.
