  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

GROUP BUY - SQUARE BOUNCE REFLECTOR

When exactly do we get our refund?

you may not....It depends on how many units are purchased with the group code by the 5th....That's why I posted my comment above...

I voted like other fellow users "+1 for $150"

Sorry, but for me - max $175 (include shipping) or I'm out, I really don't want pay $224 and take a chance for $49 refund.
I arranged many group-buys including Kessler and B&H. I will never jeopardize the investment of my fellow users.

Leon, what you're suggesting is not normal for a group buy.

I've been in group buys before and this is what happens:

1. A trusted forum member finds a cool product, organizes a group buy, and posts about it on REDUSER
2. A lot of people on REDUSER who would never have bought that product otherwise say "ooh, this guy I trust on the internet is going to the trouble of organizing a group buy. It must be a good product - let me check it out and buy"
3. Lots of people commit to buy
4. Seller gives everyone a discount code
5. We buy at discount price
6. Seller gets tons of orders, lots of new customers and lots of love. And money.
7. All of those individual people on REDUSER who bought the product are often influential and lead to a lot more sales

Usually it's just a win-win for everyone.

But this one doesn't seem to be working out.

I am not paying full price + $70 shipping and POSSIBLY getting a refund if 90 other guys buy.

I'd rather wait until I absolutely need the product before buying then. No point in buying now if the discount is not assured.

Offer something like: $150 per set plus $25 US shipping (sounds fair seeing as how many people are down to buy) and I'll buy 2 sets now.

Otherwise - all the best with the product and I look forward to buying it when I need it.

Thanks.

Totally agree with Bruce on this one as the relative terms and prices have changed from what potential buyers thought were the original conditions.

I am just curious, but what incentive is there for the seller, one that is located in a far away land, with a new company without a track record, who just joined REDUSER today for the sole purpose of promising an aftersale discount, to honestly report the number of group buy purchases? Oh, so sorry, only 89 were purchased. too bad for you.

And thanks for that link. The users have stated that the fabric is not replacable. So at this point, these are disposible reflectors. Potentially a great concept, but I'm going to wait.

thats exactly why I said we all commented +1 etc. so everyone knows the exact number and now the way Lyon has chosen to discount at a later date is kind of shady.... Group buys aren't done in private as we have no way of knowing the actual numbers...

Humm... Now It's definitely worth waiting for more feedbacks on BUILT quality as well.

No way I pay full price and wait for a potential refund.
Me think the seller lost a good oportunity to make good money.

Brice

Listen carefully, Mr. Lyon: The REDUsers agreed to $175 including free shipping. At this price, I want one.

Quickly change your group buy offer before all of those sales vanish.

Stephen

Someone got greedy. The business sliminess make me withdraw my offer completely. I am out and I will never buy a square bounce.

lyon doesn't understand group buys or public relations. You can't make an offer, see how many people get excited, then change your offer. Bad form!

$224? Damn. At $175 this was gonna be an impulse buy. I'm not okay with the refund idea. I think the fact that 90+ redusers, all of us working professionally somewhere, giving great exposure to the SquareBounce would be enough encouragement to capture these sales and get these things out in the field! Now I gotta think about it more...

Even if Square Bounce's margins are a bit slim offering this sale price, it seems that the amount of PR/exposure with their product in the field would be worth for them to take a little hit. Bending over a dollar to pick up a dime?

I for one am a little worried about the build quality... I think I'll pass.

I'm not comfortable with the refund concept. I assume risk that I don't need

We are red users.
Use to the Red service which is probably the best service in the world.
to me what mr Lyon did is just bad business conduct.
i'm out.

Lyon, I won't pay more then $175 USD. The refund is a big if, and just plain sketchy. You could have sold a big bundle of these, but I think you scared a lot of us off. I guess you don't understand the concept of a group buy and understand this could be a lot of exposure for your product. I'm sorry to say, I'm out.

Yes, imagine seeing the bounce on 90+ professional shoots every week with rotating crews....a ton of exposure in the professional film world that lasts for months. I hate short sighted companies, and especially ones that change the terms of their offer and try to sidestep our appointed representative.

Oh crap, ordered last night after a few beers. Hope this doesn't implode. Do the right thing, squarebouncedude...

Edit: ordered Tues night, got $49 refund Weds afternoon. That's OK. I think some may be overreacting to a less than perfect situation. Looking forward to receiving the reflectors.
