  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

GROUP BUY: RTMotion Wireless Multi-Channel Follow Focus - Limited Time!

Hi all,
I am considering switching from my trusty Bartech Analog to the RTmotion but I would love to see it in my hands before. Is there any RTmotion owner in New York City or around? Let me know.
Victor,
I have a 2CH RTMotion FF system (MK3.1) in my office in Brooklyn and you can come and check it out. I will be very busy next week but after that I am in Summer mode.

I can confirm that these are fantastic people who make an amazing product that can't be touched for the price.

I hung in during the last half of 2013 while they expanded, and am very glad I did.

Buy with confidence...

I think this perception was completely valid from mid last year until earlier this year- we had to grow fast and lots of lessons had to be learned (we were filmmakers and electronics guys foremost, not businessmen, so we'd be the first to admit it took longer than it should have).

Thankfully we have taken on a long lease in a great new building and our staff count has doubled since Feb, and we are shipping more units and accessories than we ever have. We're also finally moving to world-wide stockists for easier availability, including a set of common accessories with people like amazon for super fast turnaround. Any questions to urgent@rtmotion.zendesk.com or phone calls to +44 2030 210 803 should now be actioned with the speed you should expect!

Agreed, I'm still working on getting my unit (which I bought second hand) up to full working order, but Kris and Nicky and the rest of the team at RTMotion have been very helpful in getting my unit on track and upgraded. Their support team is present and responsive.

- Ah- the advanced lens mapping, this refers to the upcoming ability to visually map the lens marks (inches, metres) so you get that displayed on the screen as you rotate the knob. This is an overdue firmware update, finally coming in a couple weeks ish. You'll need to teach the system each lens and then it'll store that.

is it available?

Marko, I have the thumbwheel and it's awesome! I have it attached to my handle when I'm doing run and gun style on my shoulder. Otherwise I sometime attaches it to the Tripod handle. Worth every penny.

thats true. the thumbwheel is awesome. would really like to see a zoom control with a start/stop button with exactly the same size and of course the same zoom knob as on the wireless handset on it :-)

Has anyone had their RTMotion motors break down? My unit was out on a five month rental and apparently was working fine the whole time until the motor stopped working the other day. I don't have any way of knowing if it was misused or just general wear and tear.

Hmm, was it the 3.1 version or older? Mines been solid, but haven't had it very long.

Has anyone heard when they are going to get the distance readout functional? Seems like Tilta is showing some serious competition feature-wise, I know RT Motion has been moving locations but it's been a while. They need more features fast.

Hi Jake! This will finally be ready v soon! I don't have an ETA but it'll be sooner rather than later-- we're totally table in our new building (we moved in Feb) and we're moving on a big firmware and accessory push in the background right now... more soon :)

Oh and Paul- motor issues are very very unusual, get in touch if you haven't already as we'll likely ship a replacement

Kris

Thanks, Kris. I head back that it sounds like the motor issue may be user-fixable so that's good, I'll sort it out when I get it back.

Regrettably, I must cancel my order#'s 25666 and 26740 under the group buy and request an immediate refund, my Dragon updates have come up and I need to free up capital asap. My orders were never processed and at this point, I must cancel. I will revisit a purchase at a future date at full price, the upgrades take precedence. I have sent RT Motion an email with my order #'s and all pertinent information.

Just to say that we couldn't have been happier with our RT Motions. Amazing build quality, reliability and value. And I have always been able to get hold of them when we need more bits in a hurry. Super responsive.

If they could turn their tech and metalwork skills to any other gear I'd be first in line!

Yep mines been great. So here's the BIG QUESTION. It's been stated that any company can now program their systems to interface wirelessly via the REDLINK module to control Red's Canon mount to use the motors built into electronic photo lenses, is RT Motion doing this?

If not this is going to be a bad thing, I think moving forward this is going to be super important, especially with the gimbal revolution. The smaller the camera package the better...

I have 2 MK3.1 one with force zoom and use
The other with thumbwheel...Both upgraded and
No prob til yesterday...the run stop is no longer working.
I have bnc and lemo run stop...Neither works on my MX or
Dragon...my WC b box is not carrying sync either. I have several
of all the units including MXS and Dragons
and have a ticket into RED. Anyone have similar
issues with the newer builds...I am on 5.1.58 now
and it has not worked on 5.1.55 either. Any suggestion
welcome.

Edited for wrong build post...

I just ordered an RT motion 3.1 single channel kit and thumbwheel and am looking for any updates on if the lens mapping feature has been implemented. Also, The shipping time on the website it saying after Jan 25th. How close are people getting their orders compared to the estimated delivery date. I know that a while back that was a bit of an issue.
