  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

GROUP BUY: RTMotion Wireless Multi-Channel Follow Focus - Limited Time!

Ok so RT MOTION where you at! Let's do another group buy! You said in December you would re-evaluate after the first of the year, which is now. Can you please give us a definite yes or no? I want to buy but am waiting on this next group buy, if it's not going to happen I'll just buy normally. WHATS UP! ;)
 
I can't answer for RTMotion wether they are game for another round, but I have observed that their prices have gone up. They are also growing as a company and are moving to a larger space as we speak. They are also still getting through some backlog of orders. So, my guess is that another group buy is not really on their radar at the moment as they play catch up. Perhaps we'll hear someone from them after they settle into their new office.
 
How exactly are the motors controlled if there are only 4 pins on the connector? Are they steppers with encoders or just stepper motors?

I believe they are intelligent in they have internal control they are connected to a data bus so far from just stepper motors. I think they are brushless also.
 
An excerpt from an email I received from RT:

"We are currently moving into a larger building and hiring extra staff due to increased demand (for support and increased production) - in the meantime because of limited resources we had to prioritise existing customers and support, and so we have unfortunately neglected new sales and general enquiries.Very sorry about that! Faster sales response, stock availability and international availability/ servicing is our #1 priority for growth in early 2014."
 
When was that? So you can't even order at all right now?

That was a few days ago, It was in reference to a very specific request I had of them. Yes, you can order online anytime you are ready. This is a very small company, I've checked out their financials and you can see or rather predict when they spent a whole lot of cash on R&D. They are very serious and commuted even though it might take some time to answer their emails. Now they are expanding and IMOP, that's a great thing.

Kris if you are reading this, Congrats man!!
 
I hear ya Chris. I missed this group buy by 48 hrs and have been trying to sort something out for over 8 months since, and don't see any indication of RTM being up and running in their new space returning communications before the busy season hits in a month or two.

A little frustrating…what did you buy instead?

Can you share a short clip of the range of motion you can achieve with it?
I'm in my second week of recovery from pain in my index finger from manual focusing directly on the lens barrel during a 2h concert , and I don't want to repeat the experience!

I have the rtmotion single channel from the group buy and now I'm considering getting the tumbwheel to put it on a handle. (for single man shoots)
But I'm curious if you find the tumbwheel useful and how your index finger feels after few hours of using it?

In the meantime I ordered Varavon SLING.

Marko, I have the thumbwheel and it's awesome! I have it attached to my handle when I'm doing run and gun style on my shoulder. Otherwise I sometime attaches it to the Tripod handle. Worth every penny.
 
So I guess it's sounding like no new group buy. Their delivery estimate has climbed into late April buy now. Does anyone know if there are any American dealers?

Does anyone know if the marking discs for the MK3.1 are the same as any other brand? I'm trying to get more than the 2 I have now, without waiting for 2 months.
