  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

GROUP BUY – OSEE LCM215-HDR 21.5" 10bit Monitor Kit

I like the monitor. put in next to a flanders and it looks good. I just wish it had physical knobs for adjustment. Also, the focus peaking doesn't seem to work. I can turn it on, but there is not color indication or anything. I also can't find the settings for changing color or intensity of focus peaking.

You can adjust level of peaking and color.

lol @ Bob. It's definitely NOT as easy as just putting LUTs on a USB stick. You have to first make sure you're using a USB 2.0 disk (not 1.0 or 3.0) and then use their atrocious menu system to navigate your folder structure (making sure to push "OK" on "USER" when the menu comes up for loading a LUT, which is opposite the rest of the menus where right-arrow takes you deeper into the menu system, btw) and then place each LUT into 16 memory slots ONE BY ONE. This is an *awful* waste of time. I own 3 SmallHD monitors and those are literally as easy as "put the LUTs on an SD card and you're done." THIS, is by NO MEANS that experience. Ha.

If anyone's considering this monitor — it's a great panel, solid build quality, but has some very bad design choices (why does the battery mount obscure the VESA mounting holes? why can't I tilt the monitor with the awful included c-stand adapter? why does the menu system feel like MS-DOS circa 1993?). Eventually I'll post some photos of all the modifications I had to do once I received it. The latest of which will be spending an hour getting these LUTs loaded. Very annoying.

Sent some feedback to them, maybe we can get a bunch of us to encourage them to firmware update their menu system, assuming everyone else is annoyed by how bad it is as I am?

William has been great though, helped sort some technical stuff out for me lightening quick tonight. Kudos.

I just counted.. it took 42 (forty-two) mostly unintuitive unique button presses to load a new LUT and change the current stream to view it. You have to push each of the directional arrows and OK buttons exactly correct, too. THAT IS INSANE.

Add to the fact that I'm now finding that some these LUTs (all .cube files) either won't load (they all work fine on my SmallHD monitors) or just turn the entire image white. Seems to be nothing concrete about which ones or why, totally arbitrary.

To use the vesa holes the battery plate needs to rotate 90. Luckily they provided holes for this (which wasn’t the case on earlier versions). The included c stand adapter is going to be fine for some customers but I replaced mine with a proper vesa mount. The lack of hard knobs is definitely a cost saving measure. The menus are not as finessed as can be and installing LUTS are a pain but way better than their previous models.

Surprisingly loud when the backlight is full (or anything above 6/10).

Anyone have plastic cover for the screen? Don't want to get it all scratched.

Got my unit this week. First time I've felt pride for the monitor my client is viewing. Really nice bright accurate unit. The foam mold is really nice and can't wait to get my Pelican for it.

I noticed the feet but didn’t think about actually putting them on.

That’s rad.

Can it fit in the case with the feet on?

Using it tomorrow through Saturday on a commercial. Will give notes. Tomorrow is indoors, Fri/Sat is outdoors (in 100+ heat, so it will be put to the test).

Curious to hear what owners of the display think? Overall it sounds like it's a good buy besides the fan noise and the menu system. Does Osee periodically update their firmware or is that a no go?
