  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Group Buy -Osee 15.6" Production Field Monitor

Thank you for this Group Buy.
Does it also include shipping to Canada ?
I'd like to know this too. I checked on the OseeDirect website and the shipping costs appear to be the same to the US and Canada (approx $200USD) - but that's probably shipping from overseas. If they're shipping from within the US, would the group buy price (and included shipping) apply to Canada as well?

Doesn't include shipping to Canada from the USA, but my contact is getting rates for that and should have them on Monday.

can anyone tell me what this monitor has that the two black magic options can't deliver? the BH reviews are too hot, but both review say the colour is off- but i read this can be calibrated on the black magic site.

I had the smart view, hated it!!! Wasn't accurate at all!!! Haven't tried the 4K one, though I'm guessing it's similar.

FYI the OSEE is great.. great to travel with.. also been using it for B-cam along side a Flanders Scientific 21inch and it can hold its own quality wise. the one thing is the case is not as durable as i would like to see.... pieces are starting to fall off it.. handle is gone, one of the tie down clamps on the side just fell off last night.. heh. i will say its payed it self off and already earning me money.. have had no complaints from the shoots its been involved with

The case is poor. When I took it out of the delivery box and put it down next to me, my friend picked it up and the handle snapped off.

my dit was getting into a cab in nyc and the handle snapped off and the case rolled out into the street.. heh, he looked at me and thought i was gonna go nuts... i just looked at it and said one word "China"

its worth it tho, ive been renting it pretty steady

Yeah, I could see the handle failing pretty easily. I had mine in a warm car over the summer and when I went to pull it out the handle was a bit soft from the hit and felt like it was about the just snap apart.

When I've flown with mine, I pack it inside my big suitcase because I don't want all the parts popping off from TSA. Also, the magnets install in the hood are complete trash. I need to mount something better in mine so the hood doesn't fall every time someone breathes!

That said, I managed to get mine back during the NAB price and a special on the case... so I definitely came out like a bandit. It has worked fine for all the shoots I've brought it on, aside from the minor issues: screen isn't very bright, hood doesn't stay on well, etc.

One thing I brought up in the original thread that no one seemed to acknowledge or talk about was that fast motion can cause sort of a weird artifacting:
11ltA+

Although I, admittedly, don't have much experience with monitors like this. For on set, my experience has been pretty much limited to the Panasonic monitors and I don't remember seeing motion looking like this.

Anyone else with the OSEE have fast motion looking like this?

I really put this thing through the ringer, 2 features back to back, all day long shoots, and its holding up well, like i said i haven't had anyone say hey this picture sucks. seems totally acceptable on indy film sets

Yea, this is a great monitor for the price. I just wrapped a feature where we used it extensively and it blew me away. Gone are the days of being forced to have a flanders on set (though Flanders are AMAZING). I don't think anything really even comes close.

So what's up with the blacks? Good or no? Price not considered.

That motion artifact seems crazy.

I thought the blacks are good. You have a lot of customizability with the calibration settings, along with LUT support, so you can pretty much dial in exactly what you want.
