  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Group Buy: L'Aigle Exoskeleton

I would like to see/hear/read complete instructions for Version 1.

Does not have to be filmed in a villa on the French Riveria to please me.

My Exo is being used everyday on a short narrative piece (2 weeks). We just ended day five. The arms have become increasingly noisy when going from an up position to a lower position. Any thoughts on setup/adjustment?

Thanks
David

Need some help from any hard case owners, I got a second hand L'Agile Exo with soft case so it had the one piece arms. I'm flying out to shoot a concert next week and have sent Pierre a message a couple weeks ago about purchasing his hard case with the 2 piece arms though haven't heard back. Now I'm close to the deadline to buy a case before I fly out. Need recommendations on what Pelican case can fit the exo. Anybody come up with any solutions or can suggest a size that fits? Need to order tomorrow, friday at the latest. Thanks!

*EDIT* Has anyone flown with an exo yet? From the size of comparable cases, they are 40 something pounds alone! With the exo I'd be in baggage overage fees and I assume dimension overages as well.

Lacking the best advice from the manufacturer, I would try a less aggressive teflon based lubricant first.

Galen when you have rubbing metal means friction and its not just the sound.

In any way I suggest you put some lithium grease and not use WD40 nor any teflon based lubricant if its metal to metal.

It will work much better.

regards

When I had one, I had the dreaded squeak problem. Take extra precautions to make sure the roller bolt is at an absolute right angle to the roller guides. Any misalignment brings on the whale songs. I also used WD 40 and it worked, but Constantine's idea of lithium grease is better.

Actually, it’s not a matter of lubrication, but of geometry.

As stated on all the instruction documents that have been sent (and disregarded!!), you need to change the geometry of the whole suspension mechanism by just turning any or all of the three screws (main octagonal knob + 2 side screws) by 1/4 to 1/2 turn and any sound will dispappear.

Of course, there shouldn’t be any friction anywhere in the mechanism. There are 8 bearings for the shockabsorbing suspension alone.

I'm sure people who spent a couple grand didn't out of hand disregard the instructions. I for one, tried the 1/4 to 1/2 turn method to no avail. There was noticeable wear on the guide tracks on the squeaky arm (burred metal). Even after perfect alignment, it was still less than perfect. Perhaps there are some QC issues out there. Impossible!

Well, if it is not 1/2 turn, it might very well be 1 or 2 turns, if the geometry isn’t right from the beginning. If it’s wrong, then the ”rail” of the exoarms can be scratched indeed and won’t cicatrize!!

I do agree that the suspension on Mk1 is too sophisticated/complicated – hence the simplified but even more appealing and sturdy suspension of MkII. And you can’t do anything wrong with it. Sometimes, you need to keep it simple!

Thanks everybody. A little 3 in 1 oil along with turning all of the adjustments on today's shoot seems to be working

Tel us more Pierre. Is this mod going to be avaiable to us V1 owners? It looks like you've made changes to the hold-down hooks as well.

I would like to know if the mod will be available for v1 as well. And as far as instructions/directions, you seriously need better ones or at least clear videos on how everything gets set up and what does what. (Users have been asking for a while for good documentation)
