  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Group Buy: L'Aigle Exoskeleton

It is common Andy. Most banks at least at the level I operate charge a fee. For me to purchase the case, the fee was 35usd. What really hurts is the exchange rate the bank used. XE.com showed a lower rate. Oh, well pay and go forward.

Yes, there's a fee here too - my Bank is cheaper if you do it on-line. About £15 if I remember the last time I did a wire. You can't use XE (for anything other than a rough guide) - the Banks use their own inter-bank system that's normally (at least) a few % higher - that's the double sting.

But Paypal is a pain internationally too... ends up costing a similar amount. Can't remember where I saw it, but Branson is involved in a new international money sending scheme... I think it might have been a post by Geoff on CML... https://transferwise.com/ - haven't used it myself, but it looks interesting.

My bank charges me $50 USD for an international wire. The only reason I didn't go for the hard case is because I just can't afford to spend $600 this month. The case looks great and I hope Abel Cine will have them in stock at some point soon. Hoping to get a tracking number this week as I'm finally recovered from surgery and want to go out and shoot with this thing ASAP.

We are the little people, Andy. The world probably will be run by one or two companies!! 15 pounds is a bit better. I don't know about fees in your part of the world, but US banks, typically charge something for everything, big and small. Credit Unions here a a bit better towards their customers.

I just paid for the hard case via wire transfer €490

That came to:

$567.93
+ $35 bank fee

Total = $602.93

Thank you for shipping my unit Pierre! I will have your prototype shipped back asap. I will be giving a proper review of the final exoskeleton within days of receiving it. I've been waiting a long time for this day!

I would probably be willing to pay up for the hard case if it wasn't such a pain in the ass to pay for things with L'Aigle. Just paying the balance of my original order was costly and inconvenient. Hopefully the hard case will eventually be available in the U.S. with payment by credit card. :-(

I spent about 25 minutes at the bank getting the transfer done. It's not incredibly hard guys, just get up early one morning and go knock it out. All the info is available to make transfer when you checkout after the cart. Skip western union route. That sounds like a nightmare.

Sorry for delay on helping with WU. Worked and had a storm go thru here no internet.

Cant say Im an expert at Wu. Struggled with getting it to work. Did it on the WU website. How I did it was, once I went thru Pierres site and bought the case it gave me an Invoice or receipt I guess. On there is Pierres bank info. Its laid out differently then we have in US but kept plugging in info until it worked. Sorry if thats over simplified but maybe Pierre should help out with this since its his product. Not going to give out his bank info. Sorry.

When I originally paid for the Exo I went thru my bank and did a wire transfer and was a pain in the ass. Cost me $45. Bank barely knew what to do and then it got hung up further into the bank chain. They blamed Pierres bank at one point but turned out they screwed up.

Pierre, I know that you'll just probably sell thru distributors, but if you don't and still want to sell in the US directly, you have to get a better way to pay. I can take credit cards thru Paypal in the US relatively easy, can it be done in Europe? Yes there is a fee but I am guessing you get hit with fees with your bank too for wire transfers no? Sounds like it is easier to do wire transfers in Europe, only time I have ever done it is with your product.

I agree with you Sam, it wasn't really that hard... it took about 30 minutes once they "got to me." I was missing some details this time around, but thankfully they had a record (they keep the last 12 months) of my last L'Aigle payment. I use a credit union, and they're expensive... $95 for the international transfer! That's why I wanted to try WU! The other "hassle" was that they say they can ONLY do international transfers between 10am and 11am! Two days in a row, I was there EARLY, waiting to do it... when someone came in front of me... by the time they got to me, I'd missed "the window!" (I swear... it angered me something fierce! They absolutely REFUSED to take all my info and process it the next day too...)

But it's not hard...

GO THE NEWS TODAY! Woo hoo! Wednesday, baby! July 1 is the birthday of my new Exo! Can't wait! I'll be shooting within a few hours... I hope! Thanks Pierre! I'm so excited for this! I don't care that it's 125° out there... I'm puttin' it on, and running through the neighborhood!

Mine is now hung up in customs Fed Ex tells me. They left a number to call but don't pick up. Anyone have any experience or tips with this?

Luckily for me customs emailed directly thru my site since our company name was listed on package. I would just hammer the phone line til they pick up if you don't have another way to reach. It was relatively really easy for me as I just emailed them to call me and I provided them taxID over the phone to get the package out of customs.

mine has just arrived yikes so excited - like xmas day opening it. logged in here now to find out how to put it together seen a few post about the arms somewhere earlier. We really could do with a vid tutorial Pierre i know your on it.
Hard case is a must guys I think it would tear up a soft bag in transit. Thanks again Pierre we got there :)

I just got a call from FedEx too. They didn't know how to classify it because they say there is no invoice attached. I had to email them my invoice and explain what it is. Hopefully it is now cleared up and on its way.... Thanks Pierre!

If anybody in the US is interested I have the Fedex ECO coordinator's contact info and the CBP form that needs to be filed out and returned to Fedex. My guess is everybody will received something from Fedex as the dollar amount of the Exo is large enough to attract the attention of Customs and the IRS.

Hey Dave,

Thanks for that! Just in case would you mind sending me that? That would be great! Very nice of you to preemptively offer it up! I'm sure many of us will find ourselves in similar situations only to postpone the release of it from customs while we wait for paperwork and red tape nonsense. Anything to expedite this is fantastic! Thanks again Dave!

Happy to, John. Here is the body of the email I was sent.

Attached, please find documents regarding the above-referenced tracking number. Before this shipment can be cleared by US Customs, we will need to have what is known as a Customs and Border Protection 5106 Importer ID Form on file. Customs requires this form whenever a shipment exceeds a specific value. The form that is needed has been attached and the instructions for completing it have been posted in the next paragraph below.

CBP 5106 Instructions:
Please be sure to write in only dark ink. This is a form for Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and will not be valid if any scratch marks are made to correct something. I have indicated the boxes that will need to be completed on the form attached at the bottom of this email. Please complete the following boxes:

• Box 1 (mark "notification of Importer's number”)
• 2b (social security #)
• 3 (your full name)
• 6 (mark "individual")
• 7-10 (your mailing address)
• 12-15 (your physical address)
• 18-21

Once the form is completed, please return it to me either via email or fax. Thank you.

The forum has a file size limit on most files and the PDF of the document exceeds it, so anybody that want's it just email me at the following email address and I will send it out. You also can probably go to the .GOV website and download the document directly. Either way, happy to help.

Thanks and enjoy

Forgot to say, you will also need a copy of the invoice from Pierre. Fedex included one in the files they sent me. It reflects the total cost of the Exo, case and shipping charge along with the declaration from Pierre.
