  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Group Buy: L'Aigle Exoskeleton

Right! We didn’t try the briefcase mode in London. But you can of course have the “USHI” (Underslung Soft Hand Interface, [patented]) loops supporting your hands, not directly the gimbal, to go for briefcase mode or hand it over.

Stabilized footage: I meant clean HD footage of the product shot with a 7D on a Helix Jr, not iPhone footage.

Excellent on all fronts! Thanks.

WooHoo!! :emote_happyhappy: :hurray: :001_tt1:

Just saw a video with the Exo and have a question. Could you still shoot sideways while walking forward? Say you were walking facing forward and hold gimbal to your side? And do you have to have it attached to gimbal? Thought it would be attached to arms?

As Pierre noted just a couple posts above yours, you can have the Exo supporting your hands, not connected directly to the Helix, so that you can use just one hand or hand off the Helix altogether.

Ok thanks. Looking at this between takes couldn't find anything looking real fast. Will look backwards in a bit

On the 16th of march, you will all get an email containing the final proforma invoice.

UAE operators: we'll be at CABSAT Dubai on the 10th to 12th...

March 16th?

I am curious... can you drop just one of the arms and lock in place on the "belt," leaving the other to support one operator arm? (Thinking still about the "suitcase mode" operation of Helix.)

looks interesting, but have to wait until its really out there and see the videos produced with it. All this delays from you guys and competing companies just confirms that pre-order is not the best option, even if its cheaper as thing change a lot over the delays... but as i said im interested and cant wait for it to be on the market and used and see some reviews, maybe Ketch's in 6-12 months ;)

I completely understand your point of view Uros... I respect that...

Carrey's review will be forthcoming...

As for my review... I get it, I have been promising various reviews for months including that of the Ronin... I over promised in good faith, I had too many things happening at once, and a death in the family didn't help either, my health and so on, mostly traveling and putting together final plans for several projects and companies...

But enough excuses...

I am now dedicating the "ENTIRE" month of March starting in Miami Beach on Monday, March 2nd. to Film all Gear Video Reviews, while filming some new Fashion Action Films...

So, by NAB "ALL" promised reviews will be done!!

This is one of the locations...

Pierre, looks nice. Would it be possible to see some footage of someone going through a standard doorway operating with it? Thanks.

Amazing job Pierre! I can't wait to test it out! I will be posting footage shot with a Red Epic, BeSteady FOUR and L'Aigle Exoskeleton. Not shooting footage of myself using the gear, but posting the footage I shoot with it. I plan on doing some complex shots. Shots that would be very difficult or nearly impossible without the use of an exoskeleton. I will be posting my shots and my review immediately.

My unit ships on Monday!

Thanks Carey, looking forward to it !

I see the post you mentioned (it talks about going suitcase mode) but still haven't seen if you can actually shoot from the side or are your hands, whether Exo is on the gimbal or strapped to your hands, limited on how far you can pan gimbal? Do you still have full range of motion with arms? Range meaning from near to far away from body? Still want to be able to shoot 90 degrees from walking forward, shooting off the side not just shooting forward. Apologize if I am overlooking where it says that. Thanks.

Yes, you can bring the camera close to your body... Note in the video, you can see where there are springs or hinges on the back of the vest that allow the stiff tubes to retract. Also, you can latch one Exo-arm to the hook and carry the gimbal with one Exo-arm. You can even attach the Exo-arms directly to the gimbal and pan the gimbal with your hands while the arms hold the weight. You could even pull your own focus and access camera settings on the fly. I don't see any limitations with this rig. Of course I'll have to test it out for myself to be sure, but from what I see, I don't see any limitations at all. There is not another body mounted rig on the planet that has the freedom of mobility as this rig does right now.

Thanks for the input Carey. I saw the video and I only saw people shooting with camera straight ahead with a little pan. I didnt see anyone with the gimbal at a 90 degree angle to their body or to their side a bit. I do agree from what I saw in the video it does look really interesting and does solve a lot of problems. Cant wait to see more and its range of motion. Thanks.

At the end, the guy does an oblique move. I'm sure you could go a full 90 degrees... even if you have to bend at the waist a bit. We shall see...

Edit: Unless you're talking about a 90 degree pan... in which case, I'm positive you can do that. So, you can do both! The arms swing up and down as well as side-to-side! Awesome!

Carey

Do you see this working well with a Ronin given it protrudes a bit more than Helix?

I'm sure Pierre has tested it with the Ronin since that's what he used with the prototype... But that's a question only Pierre can answer. I'm pretty sure it will work with any gimbal, or any camera when shooting handheld.
