  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Group Buy: L'Aigle Exoskeleton

I just paid my deposit via Paypal (there was a lack of option to use a credit card payment directly) but the site took the funds straight from my Paypal-linked checking account rather than giving me an option to use a credit card (which would avoid an international conversation fee). I'm normally very conscientious about charging Paypal purchases with a card on eBay, so I don't know whether I may have missed an option for alternate payment method, but it's too late now to go back and check now. I would definitely say the payment screen not user friendly from what I've seen so far.

Hi Carey,

Just a little confused about the state of things since I joined late, are alternates able to pay their deposit at this stage // if we do, what happens? I've read the latest update on the front page and it says alternates can pay their deposits - but only one alternate seems to have so far - so just wanted to confirm that we should be paying our deposit if we want to get in on the group buy?

Mine finAlly went through today. I had to submit a new order. Hopefully I don't get charged twice ;)

The default payment method on PayPal (at least from my experience) is from the connected bank account. I always have to change it to the attached credit card some time during the transaction. This is a Paypal thing and has nothing to do
with the vendor. I paid for my exo with a credit card.

Paypal UK also defaults to the connected bank account.

However, if using funds from it (or Paypal balance) there's only a small 0.3% charge for converting currency (in this case, going from GBP to EU). However, if a CC is used to fund the transaction, there's a further 3.4% to 3.8% 'cross border' charge applied on the total.

Maybe US based CC's are different?

I am sure you are right. I was just pointing out how it is that you can use a credit card.

Wasn't arguing - was just wondering if US is different... I've been caught out on the Paypal cross border funded by CC thing before, so didn't want anyone else to :)

No, I agree. I am glad you pointed it out. I decided that the fee was acceptable since this is how I wanted to fund the deposit but it is good to know about, in case you want to get the lowest possible total cost.

Go to page one and click on the link to pay your deposit and you're done.

Bjorn, it's not too late to pay your deposit or get in on this GB... You have until Dec. 31st

I guess only comments about completing payment get answered. Love these group buys where the terms are constantly changing!

My Discover card and Chase Ink Business cards offer no-conversion fees for international purchases.

I don't quite get your comment. Do you have a question that hasn't been answered?

The only changes that have been made have been for the benefit of Redusers.

But surely that'll only be if they're used to directly purchase. Paypal funding from a CC will incur the charge on the Paypal side, as they're just using the card to extract funds?

No idea really, just wondering? :)

Don't know of any free conversion UK CC cards... unless a RU knows differently! ;)

I normally purchase internationally via Bank Transfer which is a fixed fee plus the Bank's exchange rate, but did this via Paypal as teh money xfer can take up to 5 days (which is seriosuly crazy in the on-line world we live in!).

Yes Carey, thank you. Several days ago I asked if there was sample footage shot using system, and pictures of someone walking through a doorway with it on. I am as excited as anyone about the potential of this system, but the terms stated that a 7 day window would be available to deposit - AFTER pictures of the final production model were provided. That apparently has changed to 2 low res CAD renderings and a new time table that includes alternates. I understand the pressures to move things along with a group buy, but just wanted to witness some tangible examples of a working system so I could happily deposit before the deadline for the top 100 (today?). Thanks

If you go to the link: http://shop.laigleparis.fr/index.php?id_product=119&controller=product&id_lang=1 you can read the specs where it clearly states that you can run through doorways.

You can pay a refundable deposit, and be a part of this group buy. Or not. You choose. There's nothing to lose. I can't make it any simpler.

I posted this about a week ago. It is still relevant and true:

No matter what your expectations or assumptions are, this GB gives you all the necessary options to succeed.
You put down 20% (refundable) to stay in line and wait for delivery in 6 weeks or so.
You wait for pics, video, and or reviews from those who have used it before you commit further.
If you are not happy with any of those, you bail and get your money back.
If you are still OK, you take delivery.
If you are then not satisfied, you still have 14 days to return it for a refund.

You risk shipping costs if you actually go as far as to take delivery.

Patience. All will be revealed.
