  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Group Buy: L'Aigle Exoskeleton

I haven't tried either products but if it's for rental, I'd probably go with action products runner instead.

I owned one of the first "Aigle" and it was good for the price. It was priced so a newcomer could own one and do real jobs but I never thought it was as good as higher end product. From the look of their exoskeleton it seems to be the same philosophy, something relatively affordable and good but with compromises. Action Products seem to have a more refined product. It seems more compact.

Just a thought...

That's why the company and products are now "L'aigle 2". Affordable but they have now a huge gap in quality. It's seriously better than their first entrey line of products every rookies bought 10 years ago.

Of course, I'm pretty sure that Action Products Runner is better, but at 2.5x the price it must be. And you do't mention th efact that L'aigle has been using their system for industry for years, unlike Action Products.

About cases, if I remember well L'aigle products are in bags. A pelicase of some sort would be better...

Keep in mind, this is not a steadicam system with a sled etc. It is a VERY SIMPLE concept... to take the weight off of your arms. That's it's only function, (other than to act as a 4th axis) and it appears to do that brilliantly. I like the range of motion. Pierre is relaxed on a couch and holding a heavy Ronin w/ Red set-up with ease. And there's a guy sitting right next to him... no problem. Yes, the "bones" of the system are bigger than the AP arms, but they form fit nicely around your body. You are narrower wearing this Exoskeleton than you would be with a traditional steadicam vest and arm.

I will have one in my hands soon to test and see how well it does its job.

At this time, it's pointless to compare two products based solely on speculation.

BTW, what are the compromises with this product? Because I don't really see any.

+1 Diego Querzoli

I allowed myself to post a link to the thread on two french communities closed to the L'Aigle products. I hope we will have more people interested beofre the end of the group buy. Is it ok with you ?

Thanks to berenger's thread on a french forum, i saw the group. Very nice initative.

Interesting system, but why use this exoskeleton instead of a traditional vest + arm?

Because the traditional arm and vest limits your range of motion and does not allow you to pass the gimbal off to get incredible shots. I see no use for a traditional arm and vest/gimbal combination at all.

Hi Carey, I did order and have paid last week and I am getting the L'Aigle Exoskeleton next week.
So I'm not in this troop buy this time :)

I will post pictures and review next week with BeSteady 4 (if it arrives here ;-)

Michael, now that you have both the BS4 and the L'Aigle Exoskeleton, when will you be able to post your pictures and review? Thanks!
