  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Group Buy - Inovativ Carts!!

I was thinking the same thing. It looks strong enough as the gimbal wouldn't be putting that much weight on the arm. Would be great to the gear away from the centre of the cart which these Baby Pin Systems do.

Def'n the mast riser system! - Keep in mind though, the main rod WILL NOT fit inside the Scout when it's all closed up, so that travels outside the case.

I got conflicting info from Patrick at NAB. Just left them a voicemail asking for clarification. I was told the Steadicam mast system will not fit inside but the baby pin mast system will. I will post their response when they get back to me.

Check out inovativ's instagram or facebook. they have a few photos of carts rigged for gimbals. I am going the same route.

The standard 5/8 Baby Pin system WILL fit inside the cart, however the 5/8 Baby Pin Mast Riser system WILL NOT. I'm using the 5/8 Baby Pin mast riser for gimbal as it gives a bit more stability for gimbal height/adjusting, etc and is a bit more rigid. The 5/8 basic baby pin system has been switched from Steel to aluminum. I also prefer to the gimbal to not be out to the side of the cart. Want it right by where I'm pushing at in the center.

Ahhh, thanks for the info. I think I need the mast as well. the Standard one might now cut it. Do you mount the mast on the fixed wheel side or the other side?

The mast can go on either side. There are photos of carts with two masts -one on each side.

The mast I put on the side with the handles and moveable wheels, that way I'm in complete control and the gimbal is right by me. I rotate the gimbal to over the cart when moving from point A to point B, but rotate it out when it's stationary so it's not taking up cart space.

Would love for a way to stow an EasyRig on the cart. Any idea if the vest mount in the Steadicam System will do the trick? One annoying thing is the overhead arm of the EasyRig can swing around quite wildly, although I suppose I can always fold it down before stowing it.

The easyrig hook can stretch and attach to a loop on the shoulder to prevent swinging.

So I thought I had figured out the accessories, but it looks like I might be missing something... I was under the impression that the masts can be moved to either side. I'm confused then by why the website states:

5/8 Baby Pin – Mast Riser System

Please specify what side of the cart this system will be mounted on in the order notes.
***Default option is the fixed wheel side.***

Camera Mount System

Please specify what side of the cart this system will be mounted on in the order notes.
***Default system is mounted on the swivel wheel side unless otherwise noted.***

Why does this need to be specified at time of checkout? Are the sides not interchangeable? I thought the mast systems simply consisted of these components regardless of which side they're on:

I'm fairly certain that this is because this accessory may be pre-installed if you order a cart and the mast at the same time. Users can still switch it themselves.

I use these carts often. The crossbars are different lengths on each side because of the way the scout folds. The Echo and Ranger is the same on both sides i believe. However the threads are the same size so you can put the clamp and mast on either side. You don't really need another crossbar. ive always used with one and no problem. Unless you're doing like a Steady Cam flying and XT or Amira. One crossbar is enough.

Thank you, that makes a lot of sense! Indeed, the link to the Crossbar shows a Long & Short option for every model of cart. Now to figure out what configuration I want.... :)

The accessories won't come pre-installed. You can put them wherever you want.
