  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

GROUP BUY - CoreSWX HYPERCORE 9 Mini Batteries

Zack - Question - Storage mode? Press the side LED button to awaken the LCD. If LCD doesn’t awaken, press and hold the LED button for 20sec., then release, and press again to awaken battery pack. So does this mean if I will not be using the batteries for an extended time if I hold button down for 20 sec it returns to storage mode and should we do this? I think I remember reading the original slims went into sleep/storage mode on their own when left stationary and not moved. Same with these? Thanks!

Zach do you guys carry these Hot Swap Shark Fins?

Tim, I know what you mean, now I wish I would have ordered 2 more. I did order the hot swap and it is great!!! With two of these new minis it looks like I can go 3-4 hrs without even needing to swap one. Good Times!

Mine arrived. I have a lot of the older Hypercore98s which have been outstanding but I'm amazed at how compact the minis are. Probably 30% smaller. Plus 12a continuous rather than 10a. Great Batts and the charger seems excellent. Awesome GB. Thanks.

Hi Jason,

Yes, you are correct.
Putting batteries into storage mode is beneficial during storage time as it reduces the self-discharge rate and helps maintain the level of charge above 0%. The HCM-9 series has an updated 'storage mode' and is slightly different than the existing Hypercore batteries. The battery will sleep with 48h of inactivity/no movement but to awaken, press the LED button (movement will no longer awaken the battery).

Let me know if you have questions.

Thanks!

My 3 arrived last week shortly after paying the invoice. They're even more compact than expected and looking forward to putting them to work soon.

Thanks for setting up this GB, a very fast and efficient one!

Hi Everyone,

I want to give everyone who participated a big THANK YOU!! We are so thrilled to have had such a positive response from the RED community!

The Group Buy is officially closed but we'd like to give additional time to those who have not completed their orders. Nov. 17, 2017 will be the last day to complete orders. Please PM or email me (Zack.shannon@coreswx.com) to complete your orders.

Thanks again!

I bought a few Red Hypercore 9 mini's from this GB and the one thing I'm noticing is the "time remaining" jumps all over the place.

If camera is warming up it jumps around until it hits target temp then it seems to settle down. But when I'm recording the time remaining jumps around again quite a bit.

Will it build up a memory over time and get better? Or is this normal?

Thx

Hi Jan,

The runtime values will change based on the load applied to the battery. The camera does not draw a constant current during warm up, resulting in the LCD runtime values to jump around/recalculate. It is the same with recording; depending on your recording format/resolution and what you are shooting, the camera power draw will change, resulting in the runtime values to jump around/recalculate. The runtime values should settle a few seconds after warmup and hitting record.

I hope this info helps. Please let me know if you have questions.

Thanks!

Anyone in the US want to buy two of the Mini RED batteries? I bought two as part of this group buy, but won't need them. They have been on the camera once to test, but that's it. Selling for the same price @ $300/ea... + shipping.
I'm located in Washington State.

Used these batteries on a couple of shoots the past couple of weeks. Love these batteries. Perfect size, holds lots of charge and charge very quickly. On an Epic-W, with FF and wireless transmitter, I'm getting around 1.5 hours easily.
