  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

GROUP BUY: Cinegears Wireless Follow Focus Christmas Special!

My Cinegear kit has become useless at todays shoot (and last few projects).

Looks like Ill have to send it in asap.

I am having issues getting in touch with CineGears!!! My thumb well mini controller isn't working and have been trying to reach them for weeks?!?!?! Anybody having issue's trying to reach them? I need it fixed/repaired please!!!

My wff unit has been sitting on th shelve since day one. Dec 2014

Two representitives from Cinegears made empty promises and never got back to me.

Steven initially made contact, also empty promises and did not follow through.

Really disappointed. $2k down.

One of the representatives from Cinegears I made contact with was Melody. She promised me a replacement but never followed through.

I am not located in the States, am in asia. Email seems to be a viable form of contact for me.

Wow never buying from them again will try Melody tomorrow

Yeah, the customer service is kind of weird, I had to wait six weeks, but once they decided to solve my issue, this was very fast and clean!

does he respond? Cause I need my controller for the Ronin Repaired asap!!!

I gave my Cinegears another chance on last shoot.

Early in the day I setup the rig as its used.

Tested for a few hours on and off unplugging power then back rinse repeat.

It lost connection when I walked into another room but tested a few times same steps and it still worked.

I get on set didnt want to use it right away cause I embarrassed myself three times in the past few days with it.

Finally we needed it for a long walking shot.

Set it up then nothing.

Connection works so does calibration.

But the minute we needed it, it was non responsive.

I almost threw the controller into traffic.

Everyone on set knew how this piece of gear has bugged me for days.

I will send the whole unit back to Cinegears, they can figure out.

They wanted me to talk on the phone but honestly what else can they do using that route?

Sorry you're having issues Eric. :-( Hopefully they can just refund you or send you a new unit.

Honestly I want it to work, cause where else am I gonna get a system like that for the same price.

Everything else is twice and up.

Cant say im too impressed with Cinegears so far!
A week after i paid i was informed they were back ordered.. id expected it to have already arrived!

now over three weeks they've had my money, No ETA, no feedback and certainly nothing at my doorstep.

Hoping if it does arrive and god forbid anything goes wrong that their support dept handle things a damn sight better that the sales dept.
Decidedly unimpressed.

I've had their system since the beginning. The new motor seems better but I don't know how much it's fixed the lag which is the main problem with the unit. On the support side I find that if you call them directly it seems much quicker than email. Every time I've emailed Steven or anyone on their team they just don't reply. But if you email and follow up with a call everything works and they've actually rushed orders to me overnight so they can be good but you can't rely on email alone.

On a sidenote I was very excited about the finger wheel option, whenSteven was developing it, having come from redrock system which has a very nice Option for one. But I don't know what he was thinking with the bulky $1100 thing he ended up releasing. They should've kept it small and simple and cheap and they missed on all counts

The fingerwheel is small...about the same size as the RedRock fingerwheel and it's wireless.

Update: days after emailing steve and melody and still no reply, no shipment no tracking number and they still have $3k of my money

this is not the way you do this people. I advise anyone thinking of cinegears to hold off until whatever is going on here is sorted!

hoping the regret im currently feeling will be unfounded and the lack of communication is just a symptom of a very popular product.

that said there seems to be a fair few people on here not being looked after post sale. Support is as important as the sale, if you can't look after people you shouldn't sell them anything in the first place
