  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

GROUP BUY: Cinegears Wireless Follow Focus Christmas Special!

Sorry, not sure what you are pointing me to on the DIYfilmtools website. My question has to do with the $400 price difference I paid for the Extreme motor upgrade. Is there a way to trade in for the non-extreme version but also to be compensated for the extra cost?

My motor is in like-new condition. Been stuck in bed most of the past few months dealing with medical issues so my Cinegears FF never got used except once to test. But I'm getting better these days and now I'm looking forward to getting out there shooting this summer!

Hi Curran that is possible please send it back. It would be best if you contact Support@cinegears.com or brian@cinegears.com and our support team will be happy to help you with your request.

From back in time, #1 Does the new motor solve the Lag/damping issue?

Why hasn't this question been answered? Another 1/2 month has passed without an answer on this open forum about issues important to many people. This question asked is not in the service category that has to be privately discussed on a PM basis.

Have to give a shout out to Cinegear. I returned my old motor, marked up disc and faulty lemo a week ago and just got the upgraded motor, new disc and cable in the mail. I'll be trying it out today. Either way, there's been a real step up in customer service and the distributorship in Washington sure beats paying import duties with the Canada branch. Thanks Steve for stepping it up. Look forward to getting it in action.

Good to hear Ned. Thanks and thanks to Cinegears for helping you out.

Oh no. I recommend every AC down load the user manual. Most of my AC's frustrations have been in assuming it's like everything else. I did have occasional freak outs and had to re-boot. Nothing major. Hopefully the new motor kills it.

Looking for a Discount or Used Cinegear WFF - any suggestions?

Looking for a Discount or Used Cinegear WFF - any suggestions?

Hey guys! I missed the group buy back in December and was wondering if there might be another soon or if anyone has a used WFF they'd be willing to sell?

I spent the last year+ building a 3 axis gimbal kinda like a Movi but with bigger motors, higher-voltage batteries and the dual-IMU Phobotic Centerpiece HV controller (phobotic is amazing btw!). Definitely times when I felt like I sold the family cow for magic beans, but I've just done my first few feature film shoot days with it and omg (thank god) it's amazing. I only had a friend's Epic body and still lens to balance and tune it, but on set we've been using CP2s, matte box, ND, teradek, and a Cinegears Express single standard motor WFF (that the 1st AC had with him) and it killed it - handled all that extra weight no problem (whew).

Here's a little video I cut together on my phone if you want to see it in action. It's totally putting the fun back into production and every day I learn something new!

Anyway, I really fell in love with the Cinegears WFF (it was way better with cine lenses than my buddy's Lenzhound WFF) and my buddy's Gildecam X10 vest/arm, and I want to try to slowly build out my gimbal kit with these 2 items, so I'm hoping y'all might have suggestions on how to get a good price. I'm totally happy to buy used/refurbished.

Thanks!!
Dan

I brought my cinegear to a Redbull shoot to hook up on the Ronin. 3rd Time I used it and suddenly got stuck. I can't even move the wheel with my hands.
Mir was used on a Super Baltar rehoused buy Van Demien and the focus ring was very smooth.
Many idea to what could have happened?
We were far away from any rental house so we were left with out a wireless focus. Very embarrassing indeed

If I ordered the package back in February has the extreme motor been updated since then? I haven't even used my FF package yet, and have had issues setting it up with a DSLR on a Ronin. It took too much time on set and they defaulted to red rock FF.
has anyone had luck using the cinegears on a ronin with a Canon L lens Or Rokinon?
I couldn't even get the fit or clearance of the torque screw to even start to balance the gimbal. Very frustrating.

We used the Cinegears and a RT Motion on a Ronin and Rokinon/Tokina 11-16mm for about two weeks.

The Cinegears acted up a few times so they had to use the RT Motion.

They wanted to have A/B but ended up having to share the FF due to the Cinegears going down.

I still havent had a chance to talk to the AC and get a concise report.

I tried contacting Cinegears regarding my wrong order and issues with my unit soon after I received mine in Dec 2014

Both Melody and Mike Turner from Cinegears did not follow up nor get back to me.

Still un-resolved.

So I opened the box. And yes, the new motor is there. They replaced my faulty lemo with a flexible right angle one. Much better. But the replacement disc was not included. I've sent an EM about four days ago and still have heard nothing. Also, is there a manual I can refer to in order to link my motor to my controller. They're not talking to each other. I'm hoping it's just a procedural issue.

Yikes I def need them discs.

I emailed Steven And also the info at diyfilmtools address

no response yet.

Ned - I was also sent a faulty lemo in a package only after I emailed them and asked for the knob that was supposed to be included but was not, and the cable.

I hope to hear back from them soon, there seems to be continual communication issues though.
