  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

GROUP BUY: Cinegears Wireless Follow Focus Christmas Special!

Any chance someone could get my missing gears to me, just been several months. Truly frustrating.

DM Steven here on the forums. He's been really good about responding to people with issues.

Hi guys,

The race for the Dragon upgrade is real for me. If anyone is interested in purchasing my unit, I'm willing to sell mine. Used on only 2 projects and everything is working great. PM me if interested.

Tom

Ordered the Extreme Motor with the new Espresso thumb control/focus remote

even though the picture has it written as "Expresso".

Decided to go Cinegears over red rock, and hoping it works out well.

Anyone else hopped on the Espresso train?

Hi Kabir,

I had this wireless Finger Whell contraller named Expresso, Because of I have product named Extreme Motor, Express .... Espresso is also a good name.I like the cup of coffee.

Steve

Definitely, I think it's an innovative product.

But regarding Finger Whell ESPRESSO, I want to know and see about options to install this component on a Steadicam Gimbal.

Thanks

Wow, that Expresso controller is cool! I want one. Is there any way we can rally a deal for the GB participants?

I just used my new Cinegears FF on a 2-day production and here are my notes:
+ Worked really well overall, very happy with the purchase.
+ My 1st seemed happy with it, mentioned the tiniest bit of latency but didn't seem bothered by it. Can't say how it compares to Redrock, Bartech etc.
+ The remote trigger works relatively well. The only downside is that it sometimes starts recording on its own. It seems to happen when power cycling the follow focus (when I go through that).
- The only real issue I had was the following: Put on a new lens and hit auto calibration. Noticed it spin to both end positions. But then it went into some weird mode where the device was half working, half not. When turning the wheel, the gear would spin a little here and there but almost be disconnected. The blue blinking on the remote and FF were not in sync and stopped blinking blue after 20-30 secs. Tried power cycling and running auto calibration again several times but could not get it to work. Ended up using a different lens with which I had no issues so never got to the bottom of this problem.

Has anyone else had the issue I did? Is there a way to fix it or work around it?

+1 but it has to be a good deal - can't pay almost as much as the whole system for just this feature

Ok guys! Been playing with the finger wheel now for a few days. It's tiny, easy to operate and perfect for solo operator gimbal work. Here are some of the cool features:

- LED screen to show focus depth
- Set up to two focus presets
- Remote REC trigger - works with your record trigger cables
- 100 Meter Wireless control Range
- Mountable Side bracket
- Adjustable finger wheel
- USB charger 8 Hour internal battery
- Compact design

A group buy for this will be starting possibly tomorrow (
Wednesday). It will be a rapid group buy with HUGE savings, so be ready.

I'd like to hear from Steven what his plans are for future firmware upgrades are. The very subtle ramping at the end of a focus movie is driving my focus pullers nuts on some things. Would be great to be able to turn it off.

I know Steven has been taking my suggestions well and has even implemented then. I'm sure they are all ears and want feedback to help their end users. I've already made some suggestions for the finger wheel which Steven said they are already looking into.
