  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

GROUP BUY: Cinegears Wireless Follow Focus Christmas Special!

Put me down for (1) Chris...

Sorry guys...been a demanding day on set. I've answered all of your questions below and added people to the list.

Another question... whats the difference between the extreme motor and the high torque motor... or are they the same?

The high torque motor is only needed for really stiff lenses. The standard motor is great and I've tested on a wide range of lenses

What frequency is it working on?
I was thinking having it on a drone but then it can't use 2,4Ghz not to interfere with the flight control.

It uses a 433mhz RF..so you shouldn't have any issues. Transmits up to 300 feet with standard antenna, or about a half mile with the larger antenna. I've heard people going farther though.

Pls Add me for international delivery - Express plus.

I use cp.2s and s4 minis - will the standard motor be enough?

Thanks a lot. This came in just in time.

Yup, you should be fine!

Damn it... why now. I wish this was after the holidays.

By the way, what is this: 1 x Black Cinegears Express Wireless Hand Controller Finger Bracket... Basically just a hand-unto-to-grip clamp? Is there any plan to make an actual/traditional (potentially cabled) fingerwheel direct to motor kit?

They are coming out with a wireless finger wheel option...soon...very soon. The bracket just attaches to a rod. I've used just a magic arm since the unit has 1 pre-drilled quarter twenty thread.

Can you explain the Plus model? No hard stops? Are you talking about on the Tx?

No, on the controller/receiver (where you pull focus). There are invisible hard stops though. The hard stops on the express plus are movable, so you don't have to mark the marking disc for focus pulls, if you so choose.

And here's how I'm attaching it to the MoVI. Using a Cinevate grip stick, threaded onto an accessory attachment (from Freefly). Puts it in the right position for easy finger wheel operation.

The Plus hand unit has hard stops and a slightly larger knob.

Please add me to the list for an extreme.
Justin Lovell.

How do you like that letus Helix Tom?

Add me to the list for an express Plus for international delivery.

Not to derail the GB thread, but I absolutely love the Helix, feel free to PM me if you have questions.

I was one of the first to receive mine back in late August (or was it early Sept?).

Great tools and no issues to date.

Thanks for the positive feedback Eric. I'm in love with mine as well. I have the express plus, standard motor. To be honest, I don't see using those hard stops often. Takes just as much time to move those hard-stops as it does to use a dry erase and mark the marking disc. Or...better yet, you can just program the controller via the A,B,C,D options with 4 focus points and adjust the speed at which those points rack to. I use that a lot if talent is nailing their focus marks. hehe

Hi chris. One question. Can we have delivery from a european dealer to avoid paying customs and vat? Otherwise it would end up more expensive than buying it without a discount.? Thanks.

At work we have the RT Motion and that unit has gone through hell and back with firmware updates.

I dont even know if the Cinegears ever had to update any firmware to date.

Im about to give up the Standard controller for the Express, you really think there is no use for the hard-stops?

Ive yet to use it was well. Ive been learning to use markings.

A friend likes the idea of the interchangeable Marking disks.

Ive set each one to each of my lenses (Rokinon Cine set).

He has a Bartech and is used to the paper tape option.

True, If we could receive it from a European dealer I would buy one also...

Is there an option to swap out the marking disc? I'd love to have all my lenses marked already and just swap the disc out for the specific lens.
Also: Is there options for other rec/run cables? Like for the alexa, F5, F55, etc?

Probably gonna join in on this group buy lol.

Thanks.

his lavalier mike seems very close to the lens (inside his shirt you can see the wrinkle), but it's still kind of noisy...

+1 express. I was just about to buy one of these. I'm glad I saw this. My only hitch is I need one for a shoot on dec. 13. Will this be possible?
