LOL. How did Kwan go from

"Best stabilizer in the past 7 years..." to, "Make sure you get the one with adjustable plates"... to, "My test was negative, please do a test"

So... I'm a bit Confused here.

Kwan - you tested the CAME version of this, or the Laing M-02 Pro?

and you found bad results from which one, CAME or LAING?

Best,

Dan

LOL
I meat Best Stabilizer in past years under $1500.
and adjustable plates is a different story. You must adjust ARM while you standing in comfort postion (lol).

My guess is, Came and LAING its a Same products with different configuration.
I test CAME , it was directly connected to vest (without Chest and ARM adjustable brighe plate). Its fantastic gear for under $1500, but you must have bridge plate if you really care about you back (lol)

So, Kwan - the Laing has an adjustable plate? Is this the one you are getting a group buy on Kwan?

As a novice to stabilizers this would be an entry level learning system for me. As a DP I end up also being an operator 100% of the time on the jobs I'm doing - I feel like this would be a good start for the world of stabilized operating.

i would love to get one that's adjustable in every possible way (that I could want for $1500)

the reviews I have seen on personal-view for the Laing seem positive...

thanks for your help everyone.

Meat Stabilizer? Now we're getting into LOOM territory!

Hahahahah

In some picture they do have adjustable plate and some pictures you don't,
No matter is Came or Laing, We must confirm with seller to have adjustable plate.

Its worth noting that when using this gear you will not be building the good will of the steadicam community. Its a middle finger to the manufacturers who make quality gear and the guys and gals who have spent years mastering it. Too cheap to not be making compromises in materials and design (as already noted by Kwan) - although it is interesting that the manufacturer seems to have taken his request to modify the vest. +1 for China.

That said, before spending $1500 on this kit that may break and injure you or someone else on your set, or prevent any respectable steadicam operator from offering advice about proper operation (proper form should make your back stronger not leave you in pain) you may check to be sure you've got proper liability insurance for when a spring snaps into the eye of the leading actress and you've got a chiropractor on speed dial because you couldn't get the vest to fit properly. Or just realize that even though its cheap at $1500... its $1500 that will sit in your closet because the proper adjustments for finding balance on a repeatable basis took too long to achieve.

Just an honest two cents.

I 100% agree.
There is more to a steadicam than an arm with springs. Steadicam, GPIpro, MK-V, Sachtler companies have been working on making the best tools for the job. Putting springs in an arm does not make it iso elastic.
If you are serious about using this for professional jobs, then don't buy this. You will feel the limitations of the tool and understand the need of a real steadicam rig, that is if the thing doesn't break before, and you will have waisted $1500 for nothing. Hire a steadicam operator instead, or take a workshop and learn how to fly for that money.

Also, I have seen many new operators trying to fly a Zephyr or else without proper training and thinking that the steadicam is not working and painful. It is not! Take a 2 day workshop, learn how to use it and you will be happier.
