L'aigle offers is not as cheap as we would like but it will offer to us a system with a "Name" so we can sell it for more than half of the price in 4 years...
I totally agree with the guy from L'Aigle :

"We offer not to pre-wire the sled, but to let any cable (HDMI, HD-SDI, power supply, etc.) run easily inside the post, from topstage to base module, and be plugged directly from the camera to the monitor or power supply. This is the best option, modular, cost-effective and ultra safe on the field (if a cable dies, don't cancel the shooting and send the post back for repair, just replace it in 2 seconds)."

What you think ?

I agree, probably not a good idea to go with a pre-wired sled.

With NAB coming up, it would be really nice to have a chance there to test out some these products, especially the Laing or L'aigle... Any word on them having booths or some on standby to test one of the nights...?

Interested in the L'aigle, but wouldn't want to spend that much on an item without trying it out first obviously.

Where will the L'aigle rig ship from? The EU? My concern is with VAT for those in the EU...

The price for me means that I would need to know that it's a very competent system and is getting outside the range of "buy now" pricing. I want to get a system that I can learn and improve on that is capable of flying a scarlet but isn't going to break the bank. The L'aigle is on the cusp of that but I would definitely want some extensive tests/opinions before I drop that much money.

L'AIGLE looks pretty good. I like their "latex tensioners" (no springs). The video is not of the same model they are offering, but the "tensioners" are the same though they may be adjusted differently.

Love the concept. True innovation. Don't love the price- 7 000 Euros aprox for the 15kg payload version.

Check David's blog. They are offering a newer model and the price is... (go look)

Yes saw it right now, very, very interesting deal. Its a French brand and quality control should be very good. Definitely not an "impulse buy" price here, but definitely quality. Need to rethink strategy and look into my finances but this looks like a step above everything else....

Updated the blog post with pictures. I'll ask L'aigle for the regular price. The price mentioned is the lowest possible price. When ordering a really huge order, I believer there might still be room for a few percentage points more discount, but for now, that's the price we gonna get.

Hello David,

Thanks for what you are doing for us, i think i'll need a steadycam, but in this occasion we can have it for a good price and perfect for our needs (I'm a Red One MX owner)
I saw your blog with l'Aigle, but it ask me a password, can you send me the password via PM so i can see the price?

Thank You

Jean

Still, the L'Aigle is on the extreme end of our poll. Much further from the very affordable price of the CAME Steadicam which many reported as "good performance" deal... This was probably what catched everyone's attention. I would say I would go the furtest for a Steadicam purchase for 2500 USD and that is pushing it to the extreme. More than that and I'm in Glidecam territory and I love their products. I know they are coming up with new stuff soon so anything above 2500 USD doesn't interest me I'm afraid- as good as the L'aigle looks its still too much for my budget.

Sorry again for posting it in both group buy threads:

I posted the offer by PROline on my blog

Again, this offer can't be posted anywhere public. If you want to get a password to see the offer, you have to get on the list of interested buyers. Send me a pm for that.

UPDATE: prices added for 40-80 and 80+ sold units

What's the Proline going to do for extra money that the L'Aigle can't? I'm just curious why everyone's jumping ship so fast. I don't care if it's seventy kabillion dollars off MSRP, will the Proline be reliable? I don't mind spending that kind of money if I know ill make it back in the long run (and that it won't break on me...)

Anyone who has some time this weekend (March 9th or 10th) or the following (16th or 17th) to review the PROline unit in LA?

It would be nice if some experienced operator could join the group. Luciano from PROline kindly offered us the possibility to test and review the T2000 the whole weekend and walk us through all the aspects of it. Also he wrote me that he could create for us reduser members some videos on how to set up the rig and how to operate it.

Quentin will test the L'aigle system early next week. Anyone wanna join him for a test in Paris?

I posted in two threads about the idea to make a group purchase of this Chinese steadycam system.

Update #1: The reseller CAME of LAING products sent me an email that as long as we purchase 10 or more units, it's USD1495/pcs including shipment to every buyer (excluding Africa and Southern America, but that's probably negotiable).

Update #2: I contacted ActionProducts, Floatcam, Betz-Tools, Movcam and EEmov (and now also Basson, Glidecam, Liang, L'Aigle and PROline) and asked for quotes for a Zephyr like system with a back-mounted vest.

Update #3: ActionProducts will reveal the Raptor soon, but it's out of our price range. Floatcam and eemov will send me an group buy offer early next week. Betz-Tools might consider an offer (but it will be probably also way out of our price range).

Update #4: Joey from camera-video-broadcast.com (CAME) wrote me:

"The packages including:

[see blog]

We are manufacture who producing steadicam, but we do not produce stands and monitor, sorry we can not supply stand and monitor to you."

Update #5: MOVcam contacted me. They are considering an offer for the Avant Series S for the group buy.

removed some outdated information

Update #8: Contacted Liang directly for an offer. Also asked Basson for an offer for this group buy.

Update #9: PM sent to everyone on the list.

Update #10: Floatcam's offer: see blog

Update #11: Basson's offer: see blog

Update #12: Kwan organizes a meeting to test the CAME / Laing system.

Update #13: Joey from CAME wrote me: "We can add add a LEMO power and an HD-SDI connector to the sled." Also I contacted Laing, the original producer of the CAME steadicam. They are preparing an offer and will send it to us early next week. Laing also could add LEMO and HD-SDI connectors.

Update #14: Joey from CAME wrote me the lowest possible price for him (incl. LEMO and HD-SDI), but asked not to publish it openly (same as eemov). I'll send everyone a pm tomorrow.

Update #15: Liang are doing a REDuser version of the M02 (same as CAME), incl. HD-SDI & LEMO, double battery plate similar to MOVcam and a monitor mount on 15mm rods. Photos are coming soon. Price ~1500USD.[/I]

Update #16: Liang just send me this message. I think we can make this group buy something really special:

So post your ideas, if possible with drawings or photos, so that there are no misunderstandings. I made an extra thread for it. Or send them right to me via pm or mail, if you don't want to post them openly.

Update #17: Contacted also Glidecam for an offer. They are considering it. -> They declined.

Update #18: Joey from CAME wrote me. He offered us a new price which I'll send you early next week via pm plus a discount for every future purchase. I just want to wait with the pm for the other offers by MOVcam and Glidecam, since sending a pm to everyone is quite time consuming.

Update #19: I made a blog where I'll post all the info on the group buy. Also I contacted L'aigle Paris and PROline. I made a list of modifications people want to see in the system. Have a look if you want to add something.

Update #20: PROline, L'Aigle and MOVcam are sending their offers soon.

Update #21: LAING received the list with requested modifications and are going through them with the technicians today (03/01/2013).

Update #22: Check my blog for the offers of PROline and L'Aigle

APPROXIMATE TIMELINE:
ORDERING 03/15/2013
RECEIVING ORDERS 04/01/2013
This can of course change, depending on the incoming offers.

This list is just for a more detailed quote and NOT a final list if buyers!

The L'Aigle was already well beyond what I was prepared to spend and what this initiative started with as a target. But the quality of the product was looking so good and innovative that I would have a hard time passing up the opportunity to purchase at the group buy price. Even the best possible scenario for the Proline (which probably won't happen, IMO) is substantially beyond the L'aigle, and I actually like the L'aigle better. I really like the way they decided to do the post and the wide channels for running cables as opposed to junction boxes, adding clutter, more interconnections for more cable expense, and more things to require repair. And I REALLY like the concept of the latex in place of springs. So I also don't understand why so many are thinking Proline is the offer to beat. IMO, that is clearly the L'aigle.
