Nice work guys! Looks pretty awesome to me! Especially in tight quarters. Nice work shooting the BTS stuff at the same time, very helpful.

I must say Kwan, nice work. You managed to answer most of my questions with the cleaver use of the iPhone. I am pleased with the smoothness in tight quarters. I'm in on the group buy.

Thanks to everyone who helped in the demo. Well done.

That looked good to me, I noticed the horizontal lines were off a few times, but it looked pretty great. Especially considering the narrow corridor you chose! :cheers2: Thanks for doing it, I'm definitely in on the group buy for either current version or maybe the one with the proposed enhancements ... depending on the timeline!

One thing worth mentioning for the "uninitiated", buying this rig will not magically make all your shots smooth. I need to stress, it takes a lot of practice, skill and endurance to use one of these, not to mention, all the tweaking for the arm/vest and sled (achieving static and dynamic balance) that goes into dialing it in just right. The good thing is it can be a real fun process if you approach it the right way.

For David K., Kwan's rig included a docking plate which mounts to any light stand, in the CAME webpage, I did not see it included but rather the gimbal handle inserted directly to the top of a stand. This mounting/docking plate is pretty important and should be included in the rig.

I'm glad you guys find the videos helpful, I had a blast meeting fellow Redusers and learning more about this rig, thanks again David and Kwan!

I'd like to find out what sort of knobs it has for minute adjustments of the sled. My old GlideCam was horrendously difficult to set up, and I was hoping this one had those "turn the knob to adjust the sled front/back and left/right one thread at a time" type things. Sorry if that's overly vague... Maybe just a pic of the sled top would clear it up for me.

Can Kwan comment on his subjective impressions of how the unit feels compared to real Steadicams (Flyer, Scout, Zephyr) in terms of how much it fatigues, whether the loads are spread as comfortably as possible on the body, etc.? Could Kwan have worn this rig for 3-4 hours in a day with no bad physical effects?

Forwarded Message from the Chinese Steadycam Seller...

THIS JUST IN!!!!:

I contacted Frank/Joey from the CAME company in China for an order on some of his website listed items (he also has his ebay store "photolight") and he asked me to share this message with all the group buy interests for this thread. Message is below, attached is the image file of the letter he stamped with his company seal:

F.Y.I - I'M JUST RELAYING HIS MESSAGE, PLEASE DO NOT ASK ME OR PM ME QUESTIONS ON HIS OFFER AS I HAVE NO ANSWERS FOR YOU, NOR CAN/WILL I INTERCEDE ON ANY DEAL :) ALL THE INFORMATION IS LISTED BELOW TO GET YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED!!

To my understanding, David is the most qualified source for answering questions on the thread for this. I'm just merely a messenger who is buying supplies off of this seller and transmitting a one-way message from the seller to the group. (Not trying to step on anyone's toes with this)

Dear REDUSER Group buyers:

The Special you have been waiting for is HERE :)

My name is Frank. I am the manager from Xiamen Came Photographic Equipment Co.,Ltd. I am pleased to know our Steadycam has grown in use and popularity worldwide. I’d like to make some clarifications to help everyone get on the same page for this purchase:

Due to delays in communication and a variety of requests, many potential customers have requested different and often contradicting items, causing a delay in consensus and furthermore delaying final product specifications for the Steadycam package. We have decided our newest and latest Steadycam model is more than adequate for your requests for the RED camera and this will be the package we will be sending out: http://www.camera-video-broadcast.c...am-Stabilizer-Steadycam-Carbon-Fiber_141.html

Considering most of our buyers want to place their order in the near future, our company is providing a Special, in order to encourage a more consistent process to the group buy.

DETAILS OF REDUSER SPECIAL:

If a total of 30 or more purchases of the CAME Steadycam package are confirmed, we will provide the group-buy discounted price for all orders. We currently sell the package for $1600USD original price.

*Additionally we will give all group-buy confirmed customers a 12% Discount for any additional items on our company website: http://www.camera-video-broadcast.com/

Our deadline for the REDUSER group-buy is March 20th, 2013.

“What is the process of “confirming” my order and how will I know if the 30 customer threshold has been reached?”

You must first email your order request to sale@camera-video-broadcast.com, with the following information:

1) First and Last Name
2) Mailing Address, Country
3) Order: “I would like to purchase the REDUSER Group Buy newest model of the Steadycam”
4) PayPal Email/Account Name

When we receive 30 or more legitimate email orders with legitimate PayPal accounts, you will then be sent an email with the discounted total (previously disclosed) as well as your PayPal invoice. Make sure to adjust your spam folder accordingly. Make sure to note “REDUSERGroupBuy” in the PayPal description.

For any further questions on this special or discount email: sale@camera-video-broadcast.com

Best regards,
Xiamen Came Photographic Equipment Co.,Ltd

You can write him back:

Dear Frank;
What you're suggesting is not normal for a group buy.
We have participated in many group-buys such Kessler Krane's Cineslider, NORE Bounce and so on.

This is what happens:

1- A trusted forum member finds a good product, organizes a group buy, and posts about it on REDUSER
2- Seller gives everyone a discount code (No point in buying if the discount is not assured)
3- We buy at discount price (No way Reduser will pay full price and wait for a potential refund.)
4. Seller gets tons of orders.

I guess you don't understand the concept of a group buy and understand this could be a lot of exposure for your product. Quickly change your group buy offer before you lose a good oportunity to make good money.

I suggest you re-consider your terms and offer a normal group buy, where the exact price is known at checkout using a discount code.

cheers

From what I read from his letter, your suggesting exactly what he seems like he is trying to do. I could be wrong, but you guys are saying the same thing.

Kwan is not saying the same thing... basically he's saying that there shouldn't be a need for 30 people to have to pay for the discount to be applied... essentially the coupon code is the way to go.

That's the way a group buy should be.

Then I'm wrong :) Take it up with David or the seller. Don't shoot the messenger

Actually, I take that back. I think I am right. From reading his letter, it looks like he is stating he wants to make sure he gets 30 emails first and he is going to follow up with an invoice with discount applied. I didn't read anything that said we have to pay full price, and then we get refunded. Are we reading the same letter? Coupon code being "REDUSERGroupbuy" to get the discount. Am I missing something?

I think you missed the bold text in the letter saying "When 30 or more legitimate email orders with legitimate PayPal accounts". Orders being the key word.

He said once at least 30 people email him he will invoice everyone via PayPal at the discounted price. Sounds like a good way to do it to me.
